Stay up-to-date with all the latest news on injured players across Major League Baseball.
Yordan Alvarez, Astros
An MRI on Sept. 16 revealed that Alvarez suffered a significant left ankle sprain during the Sept. 15 game against the Rangers. Manager Joe Espada declined to give a timetable for a return, but Alvarez could miss extended time.
Francisco Alvarez, Mets
Alvarez left the Mets' Sept. 16 game against the Padres after being hit by a pitch on his left arm.
Bo Bichette and Anthony Santander, Blue Jays
Bichette won't return during the regular season due to his left knee sprain, per manager John Schneider, but the Blue Jays are hopeful he could be back for the postseason.
Santander (left shoulder inflammation) has played in four rehab games with Triple-A Buffalo, all as a DH. The Buffalo Bisons have one week of games remaining and Santander will continue to ramp up there.
Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki, Miguel Amaya and Owen Caissie, Cubs
Manager Craig Counsell said on Sept. 16 that while he is optimistic about Tucker’s recovery from a left calf strain, he is “a little concerned” about his lack of progress, given the limited amount of days before the postseason.
Suzuki (bronchitis) was out of the starting lineup on Sept. 16 for the fifth straight game but came to the ballpark with more energy than in days past, Counsell said.
Amaya (left ankle sprain) is not quite back to 100 percent health, but will start at designated hitter for Triple-A Iowa on Sept. 16. Counsell is hopeful Amaya will be able to transition to catching duties later in the week.
Caissie was placed on the seven-day concussion list after a collision with the outfield wall on Sept. 13.
Corey Seager and Tyler Mahle, Rangers
Seager, who is recovering from an appendectomy, did some light jogging at Daikin Park pregame on Sept. 15. He hopes to take some swings soon and could be back for Texas' final homestand that starts Sept. 19.
Mahle (right shoulder fatigue) will make his next start with the Rangers.
Trea Turner, Alec Bohm and Edmundo Sosa, Phillies
Turner (right hamstring strain) took grounders and batting practice in the cage on Sept. 16 and plans to try jogging on Sept. 17.
Bohm (left shoulder inflammation) went through a full workout on Sept. 16 and will have another on Sept. 17, after which the Phillies could activate him if all goes well.
Sosa (right groin tightness) was placed on the 10-day IL on Sept. 16 (retroactive to Sept. 13) after feeling discomfort during a workout. He is expected to return as soon as he is eligible.
Tarik Skubal and Kyle Finnegan, Tigers
Skubal was pulled from his Sept. 12 start with left side tightness. Tests came back clean and he threw his usual between-starts bullpen session without issue on Sept. 15 at Comerica Park.
Finnegan (right adductor strain) threw a bullpen session on Sept. 15 at Comerica Park in addition to fielding work and running. He is waiting for his next step, likely a rehab assignment this week with Triple-A Toledo.
Cole Ragans and Seth Lugo, Royals
Ragans (left rotator cuff strain) expects to return to the rotation on Sept. 17 against the Mariners
Lugo (low back strain) did not respond well to his Sept. 15 bullpen and will be shut down for the next few days.
Trevor Megill, Jose Quintana and Nick Mears, Brewers
Megill (right flexor strain) reported mild soreness after his last live BP session and was expected to be re-evaluated on Sept. 16.
Quintana (calf) is day to day after an MRI showed only mild inflammation. The Brewers expect his next start to be pushed back.
Mears (low back tightness) could return as soon as he is eligible on Sept. 17.
Brock Stewart and Roki Sasaki, Dodgers
Stewart (right shoulder inflammation) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sept. 16.
Sasaki (right shoulder impingement) will make at least one more Triple-A start after dealing with a minor calf issue in his most recent appearance.
Willson Contreras, Cardinals
Contreras left the Cardinals' Sept. 15 game with tightness in his right biceps. He is expected to receive two days off to see if the issue resolves with rest.
Tyler Soderstrom, Jacob Lopez and Denzel Clarke, Athletics
Soderstrom (groin tightness) remained out of the lineup through Sept. 16, but could be available off the bench.
Lopez (Grade 1 flexor strain) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Sept. 17 in Boston. He continues to make good progress, and the team is hopeful he could pitch again before the end of the season.
Clarke (right adductor strain) is going through a running and hitting progression in Arizona.
Zach Neto, Yoán Moncada and Nolan Schanuel, Angels
Neto (left wrist soreness) re-aggravated the injury, originally sustained on an Aug. 20 hit by pitch, on Sept. 11. Further testing revealed a strain, and he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.
Moncada exited in the fifth inning of the Sept. 14 game against the Mariners with left ankle soreness and remained out of the lineup through Sept. 16.
Schanuel (left wrist contusion) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Sept. 17.
Albert Suárez and Adley Rutschman, Orioles
Suárez was placed on the injured list on Sept. 15 with right elbow discomfort, ending his 2025 season. He has undergone an MRI and is seeking a second opinion.
Rutschman (right oblique strain) was expected to begin a rehab assignment on Sept. 16.
Xander Bogaerts, Padres
Bogaerts (left foot non-displaced fracture) is running up to 85% intensity and taking situational at-bats without issue per a Sept. 16 update.
Christian Vázquez and Ryan Jeffers, Twins
Vázquez (left shoulder infection) and Jeffers (concussion) took live batting practice on Sept. 16. Vázquez is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Sept. 18.
John Means, Guardians
Means (left elbow UCL surgery recovery) is likely to make his seventh rehab start on Sept. 19 with Triple-A Columbus.
Jonathan Aranda, Rays
Aranda (fractured left wrist) will face live pitching at the Rays' Spring Training complex at some point from Sept. 19-21. How he feels then will determine if he returns during the final week of the regular season.
Carson Whisenhunt, Giants
Whisenhunt (back strain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 16.
