Team to watch
Single-A Jupiter features arguably the best defender in the Minors (Caba), one of the top players in the 2025 international class (Salas), the Marlins' top two picks in the 2024 Draft ( Morlando once he returns from elbow surgery and Johnson) and the Padres' 2023 first-rounder (outfielder Dillon Head). Benitez rejoins the Hammerheads after posting a 3.12 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings for them as the youngest starter (age 18) in the Florida State League last summer. Valor offers one of the best power/speed combinations in the system. Third baseman Abrahan Ramirez finished second in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League last summer with a .348 batting average.

COMPLETE MARLINS PROSPECT COVERAGE

Players we could see in MLB in 2025
Catcher/first baseman Agustin Ramírez, who's coming off a 25-homer/22-steal season, and De Los Santos, who led the Minors with 40 homers last year, could give Miami some much-needed power in the near future. Mazur made his big league debut with the Padres last June and should resurface with the Marlins at some point. Marsee, Mesa and Pintar could enter a muddled outfield picture.

New faces
Trade acquisitions Caba, Abrahan Ramirez and middle infielders Vargas and Acosta will all play their first games as Marlins. Salas will make his pro debut in Single-A a month after turning 17 years old. The first two pitchers that Miami drafted last July will wait a bit longer to break into pro ball because May (supplemental second round) had arthroscopic elbow surgery in March and Shepardson (fifth) is still in extended Spring Training.

On the shelf
Morlando had the ulnar nerve transposed in his left (non-throwing) arm in mid-March and should return in May. Milbrandt (fluid buildup in his arm) and Mesa (hamstring) are on similar timetables. May is ticketed to return to the mound before the end of June.
