How it works

Triple-A first-half winners each host a best-of-three LCS, which are slated to begin on Sept. 23. The winners of the two LCSs advance to the Triple-A Triple Championship Game, which will be hosted at Las Vegas Ballpark for the fourth consecutive season. The format for Double-A, High-A and Single-A will consist of four teams per league in a best-of-3 Division series, followed by a best-of-3 Championship series -- with one exception. The High-A Northwest League playoffs will consist of a single, best-of-5 Championship series. Learn more about MiLB playoff qualifiers.

Complex League playoff procedures

Format and Participating Clubs: The Complex League postseason will consist of four teams participating in a two-round tournament (single-game Semifinal Round and best-of-three Final Round).

The four postseason participants will be the winners of each of three divisions and one wild card team. The division winners will be based on winning percentage at the end of the championship season. The wild card team will be the team with the best winning percentage other than the three division winners.

The four postseason participants will be seeded based on winning percentage, regardless of their status as division winners or wild card. The matchups in each round will be determined based on seeding (i.e., highest seed vs. lowest seed, second highest seed vs. third highest seed). Absent weather-related adjustments, the higher seed will host the lower seed in the single-game Semifinal Round. In the best-of-three Final Round, the lower seed will host game one with the higher seed hosting games two and, if necessary, game three.

Tiebreakers: In the event of any ties, the following tiebreakers will apply in the order below:

  • Head-to-head record (if three or more teams, best winning percentage in games among the teams).
  • If the teams remain tied, best overall winning percentage over the last 20 games.
  • If the teams remain tied, best overall winning percentage over an additional game (the last 21 games, the last 22 games, etc.) until one emerges with a better winning percentage in that span of games.

Postseason Schedule: Absent weather-related adjustments, the Complex League postseason will be played as set forth below:

Games and Rounds

• Final Day of the Championship Season
• Off day
• Single-Game @ Higher Seed

Semifinal Round
• Game 1 at Lower Seed

Final Round
• Game 2 at Higher Seed
• Game 3 at Higher Seed *if necessary

DSL Postseason (“DSL Cup”)

Format and Participating Clubs. The DSL Cup will consist of sixteen teams participating in a two-stage tournament (Pool Play and Championship Bracket). In Pool Play, the sixteen teams will be divided into four pools of four teams each and will participate in a round-robin competition. The team with the best record in each pool will advance to the Championship Bracket, which will consist of two rounds (best-of-three Semifinal and Final Rounds).

Each division winner will qualify for the DSL Cup. The division winners will be based on winning percentage at the end of the championship season. After the division winners have qualified, Wild Card Clubs will be selected in order of winning percentage until a total of sixteen teams have qualified for the DSL Cup. For example, when the Dominican Summer League consists of eight divisions, there will be eight division winners and, after selection of the division winners, the eight remaining teams with the best winning percentages will qualify for the DSL Cup.

Clubs will be seeded for Pool Play based on winning percentage at the end of the championship season, regardless of their status as division winners or Wild Card. Pools will then be divided based on seeding, as follows:

Pool Seeds

A -- 1, 8, 9, 16
B -- 2, 7, 10, 15
C -- 3, 6, 11, 14
D -- 4, 5, 12, 13

Each Club will play one game against each of the other Clubs in its pool. The team with the best record in each pool will advance to the Championship Bracket (i.e., four Clubs will advance to the Championship Bracket).

The Championship Bracket will consist of two rounds: the Semifinal and the Final Round. Each round will consist of a best-of-three series. In the Semifinal Round, the highest seed to advance from Pool Play will play against the lowest seed to advance from Pool Play, and the second highest seed to advance from Pool Play will play against the third highest seed to advance from Pool Play. The two Clubs to advance from the Semifinal Round will play each other in the best-of-three Final Round to determine the Dominican Summer League champion. Absent weather-related adjustments, the higher seed will host game one and, if necessary, game three of each series. The lower seed will host game two.

Tiebreakers

At the End of the Championship Season. In the event of any ties at the end of the championship season, the following tiebreakers will apply in the order below:

  • (a) Head-to-head record (if three or more teams, best winning percentage in games among the teams).
  • (b) If the teams remain tied, best overall winning percentage over the last 20 games.
  • (c) If the teams remain tied, best overall winning percentage over an additional game (the last 21 games, the last 22 games, etc.) until one emerges with a better winning percentage in that span of games.

Pool Play: In the event of a tie between two teams at the end of Pool Play, the winner of the head-to-head matchup during Pool Play will advance to the Semifinal Round. In the event of a tie between three teams, the team with the highest seed will advance.

DSL Cup Schedule: Absent weather-related adjustments, the DSL Cup schedule will be played as set forth below:
