LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw and optioned right-handed pitcher Ryan Loutos. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers placed left-handed pitcher Blake Snell on the 60-day injured list.
Kershaw, 37, will make the start tonight as he begins his 18th season with the club. The 2014 National League MVP made five rehab starts, going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in 21 innings. In his 17-year career, he is 212-94 with a 2.50 ERA and 2,968 strikeouts. He is 32 strikeouts away from becoming the 20th player in MLB history to reach 3,000 strikeouts. He was originally drafted seventh overall in the 2007 First Year Player Draft out of Highland Park High School (Tx.).
Loutos, 26, pitched last night, allowing two runs in one inning. He was acquired on May 1 from the St. Louis Cardinals for cash considerations. He made his Major League debut in 2024, appearing in three games without allowing a run. Over five minor league seasons, he owns a 4.75 ERA with 249 strikeouts in 223.2 innings. He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Cardinals in 2021.
