Rather than a classic home run derby from home plate, we’ll be shifting the hitter’s location to 1st base and the outfield defenders to primarily left field. Seating for the Derby X at Kauffman Stadium will be limited to the lower bowl and outfield experience near the Hall of Fame Suites. Please be advised—seating in the outfield area will be more interactive than the lower bowl. Do not bring young children into this area. We encourage you to bring a glove and be ready to catch a homer in this seating section!

What is Home Run Derby X?
Home Run Derby X is a team-based Home Run Derby – but we’ve added defense, too. A single game takes 30 minutes and is comprised of six rounds. Each player gets one offensive at-bat of 2.5 minutes while the opposing team plays defense in the outfield. Teams earn offensive points for hitting home runs and defensive points for making catches. After each player has batted once, the team with the most points wins.
This season, Derby X will feature 16 teams across six qualifying events in Atlanta, Round Rock, Durham, Oklahoma City, Des Moines, and for the first time at a MLB ballpark, The K here in Kansas City. The winner at each event will guarantee their place at the Finals Weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah where the 2025 Derby X champ will be crowned!
