Expected return: September

Injury: Concussion
IL date: Sept. 9 (7-day IL, retroactive to Sept. 8)
Expected return: Mid-September
Status: Suffered "off-field accident" that resulted in a concussion, but likely will only miss that start. Has begun throwing again and could return sometime during week of Sept. 15. (updated: Sept. 13) More >>
RHP Steven Cruz
Injury: Right shoulder impingement
IL date: Aug. 3 (15-day IL)
Expected return: September
Status: Made second rehab appearance on Sept. 11 with Triple-A Omaha, throwing a scoreless inning on 13 pitches (nine strikes). Will likely return when Royals need a fresh bullpen arm. (updated: Sept. 12)
RHP Hunter Harvey
Injury: Right adductor strain
IL date: Aug. 11 (15-day IL)
Expected return: September
Status: Threw 19 pitches in live BP session at Kauffman Stadium on Sept. 6 but was sore afterward, so progression has slowed. (updated: Sept. 9) More >>

Injury: Left biceps contusion

Status: Has begun playing catch and thrown off mound a few times. Will continue ramping up. (updated: Sept. 2)
RHP Alec Marsh
Injury: Right shoulder soreness
IL date: March 24; transferred to 60-day IL on May 2
Expected return: Likely 2026
Status: Shut down since end of June with shoulder soreness and received injection at the end of July, but hasn't been able to start throwing yet. (updated: Aug. 15) More >>

Injury: Left rotator cuff strain
IL date: July 27; transferred to 60-day IL on July 31
Expected return: 2026
Status: Shut down for remainder of 2025 season. Injury will not require surgery, but he needs extended rest. Expects normal offseason. (last updated: July 31) More >>
RHP James McArthur
Injury: Right elbow surgery
IL date: March 24; transferred to 60-day IL on May 1
Expected return: Likely 2026
Status: Suffered setback in July when he underwent another procedure to remove the second screw that was put in during offseason elbow surgery. Both screws that were put in to help fix an olecranon fracture have been removed. (updated: July 18)
