HOUSTON -- The Reds acquired infielder/outfielder from the San Diego Padres on Friday for Minor League right-hander and cash considerations, the team announced.

Joe has spent the majority of this season with Triple-A El Paso where he hit .267 and drove in four runs in 16 games. He appeared in seven games for the Padres this season, going 0-for-9.

TRADE DETAILS
Reds get: IF/OF Connor Joe
Padres get: Minor League RHP Andrew Moore, cash considerations

Joe, who signed a one-year contract with the Padres in February, is a career .241 hitter with 35 home runs and 141 RBIs in parts of six Major League seasons, during which he also played for the Pirates, Rockies and Giants.

“He’s a guy who can play first and the outfield,” Reds manager Terry Francona said. “He’s a veteran bat. He’s got a good reputation. I’ve always kind of liked him. I’m thrilled we picked him up. I just need to look at it a little closer.”

Moore made six relief appearances for Double-A Chattanooga this year, pitching to a 4.15 ERA with 12 strikeouts and eight walks over 8 2/3 innings.

In a corresponding move, the Reds transferred to the 60-day injured list.
