The Double-A Frisco RoughRiders don’t throw no-hitters every day. But every time they do, it seems to be against the same opponent.
It had been almost 14 years since Frisco’s last no-no before Wednesday, when three RoughRiders hurlers combined to turn their 6-1 victory over San Antonio into the franchise’s fourth no-hitter of 7 or more innings, and its third since 2008. That’s not the wild part. The wild part is that all three of those no-hitters – scattered across a 17-year stretch – came against the same team.

There seems to be something about Frisco against San Antonio, sometimes. Three of the four no-hitters of seven or more innings in team history have come against the Missions. If you count no-hitters of fewer than seven innings, four of six of Frisco's have come against San Antonio.
So it was Wednesday, when left-hander Kohl Drake (TEX No. 12) spun six hitless innings before righties Ryan Lobus and Skylar Hales (TEX No. 24) secured the final nine outs at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Spotted some nice early run support, Drake cruised, punching out six, allowing only two baserunners (walks) and retiring 16 straight at one point. The effort sliced the 24-year-old's ERA to 2.42 across his first five starts with Frisco, over which he's compiled 34 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings.

Lobus came on in relief, walked three in 1 ⅓ innings and was charged with a run when Hales uncorked a bases-loaded hit batsman in the eighth. But both relievers kept San Antonio out of the hit column and Hales struck out two en route to securing the final five outs.
The combined effort accounted for the eighth no-hitter of the 2025 Minor League season so far, and only the second at Double-A. Northwest Arkansas achieved the first Double-A no-no of ‘25 on April 15.
