3B Nolan Arenado
Injury: Right shoulder strain
IL date: Aug. 1 (10-day injured list)
Expected return: Sept. 15
Status: After a four-game stint with Double-A Springfield -- two of them as a DH and two of them as the starting third baseman -- Arenado will return to St. Louis on Sept. 14 so that he can join the Cards on Sept. 15. Arenado went 1-for-13 with three strikeouts. He will likely start at third on Sept. 15 and play there much of the final two weeks. (Updated: Sept. 14)
SS Masyn Winn
Injury: Right knee meniscus tear
IL date: Sept. 13 (10-day IL)
Expected return: 2026
Status: Was shut down for the season by the Cardinals. In the coming weeks, he will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. (Updated: Sept. 13) More >>
LHP Zack Thompson
Injury: Left lat strain (Grade 1)
IL date: March 27 (transferred to 60-day IL on April 7)
Expected return: TBD
Status: Working out at the team’s Spring Training headquarters in Jupiter, Fla., but shut down from throwing. No timetable for when he will pitch again. (Updated: Sept. 3)
