RED SOX ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • Reinstated outfielder Masataka Yoshida from the 60-Day Injured List.
  • Optioned infielder/outfielder Nate Eaton to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game against the Colorado Rockies.
  • Transferred right-handed pitcher Nick Burdi to the 60-Day Injured List.

Yoshida, 31, has played in five rehab games for Double-A Portland (three games) and Worcester (two games), batting .286 (4-for-14) with three RBI while making three starts as the designated hitter and two in left field. Signed by Boston as a free agent on December 15, 2022, the Japan native has hit .285 (261-for-915) with 54 doubles, 25 home runs, and 128 RBI in 248 career Major League games, all with the Red Sox (2023-24).

Eaton, 28, has hit .250 (6-for-24) with five runs scored and three stolen bases in 14 games this season, making eight starts at third base. The right-handed hitter has also played in 64 games for Worcester, batting .274 (64-for-234) with 19 doubles, one triple, and seven home runs. Originally selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 21st round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Virginia native has played in 86 career Major League games with the Royals (2022-23) and Red Sox (2025).

Burdi, 32, was placed on the 15-Day Injured List on June 3 with a right foot contusion. The right-hander has tossed 5.1 scoreless innings over four relief appearances for Boston, while also pitching in 15 games for Worcester. Originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Illinois native owns a 5.34 ERA (18 ER/30.1 IP) in 35 career Major League games with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2018-20), Chicago Cubs (2023), New York Yankees (2024), and Red Sox (2025).
