Injury: Right calf tightness
IL date: Aug. 21 (10-day IL, retroactive to Aug. 18)
Expected return: During final road trip Sept. 19-25
Status: Abreu sprinted prior to the game on Sept. 17, along with other baseball activities, but manager Alex Cora said the soonest he will return is the upcoming road trip that starts on Sept. 19. (Last updated: Sept. 17)
OF Roman Anthony
Injury: Left oblique strain
IL date: Sept. 3 (10-day IL)
Expected return: Postseason at earliest

RHP Luis Guerrero
Injury: Right elbow strain
IL date: June 28 (transferred to 60-day IL on Aug. 2)
Expected return: Mid-September
Status: The righty got roughed up for three hits and three runs in 1 1/3 innings in the eighth appearance of his Minor League rehab assignment on Sept. 14. His assignment expires on Sept. 24. (Last updated: Sept. 17)
RHP Liam Hendriks
Injury: Right hip inflammation/right forearm soreness
IL date: May 30 (transferred to 60-day IL on July 8)
Expected return: 2026

LHP Brennan Bernardino
Injury: Left lat strain
IL date: Sept. 12 (15-day IL, retroactive to Sept. 10)
Expected return: Late September/Early October
Status: Injuries continue to pile up for Boston's pitching staff of late. It is unclear if Bernardino will be able to make it back before the regular season ends on Sept. 28. (Last updated: Sept. 12)
RHP Dustin May
Injury: Right elbow neuritis
IL date: Sept. 9 (15-day IL, retroactive to Sept. 6)
Expected return: Late September
Status: Shut down from throwing after feeling soreness in his right forearm. An MRI revealed no structural damage, and May hopes to return by the end of the regular season. (Last updated: Sept. 9)
2B Vaughn Grissom
Injury: Plantar fasciitis
IL date: Sept. 9 (60-day IL)
Expected return: 2026

RHP Jordan Hicks
