Full name is Nicholas John Sogard...Played three seasons at Loyola Marymount University...Named West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year and led the conference in stolen bases (30) as a junior...Graduated from Jesuit High School (Calif.)...Notable Jesuit alumni include Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins...His cousin, Eric, had an 11-year MLB career with OAK (2010-15), MIL (2017-18, ‘20), TOR (2019), TB (2019) and CHC (2021)...His uncles, Steve Sax and Dave Sax, played 14 and five years in MLB, respectively...Dave played for BOS from 1985-87...Attended Fenway Fest in Jan. 2025, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.

Made his MLB debut, splitting the season between Triple-A Worcester (96 G) and Boston (31 G)...Played 31 games over two stints with BOS, from 7/31- 8/16 (12 G) and 8/29 through the end of the season (19 G)...Made 11 starts at 2B, six at 3B, and six at SS, also making one appearance at 1B (for 1 PA)...Recorded at least one hit in each of his first saves MLB games and reached base in each of his first six...Scored at least one run in five of his first six games...Finished second on Worcester in hits (104) and walks (64) and ranked third in runs (69) and AVG (.283, min. 200 PA)...Earned the team’s “Mistah Wistah” Award...Played at six positions for Worcester, making 50 starts at SS, 22 at 3B, seven in RF, six in LF, five at 2B and three at 1B, as well as one as the DH...For Worcester, recorded an OPS above .800 against both LHP (.828) and RHP (.839)...With RISP, batted .366 with a 1.034 OPS (37-for-101, 9 2B, 4 HR).

Attended MLB Spring Training camp as an NRI, his first big league camp...Spent the entire season with Triple-A Worcester...Hit the first pinch-hit HR in WooSox history on 7/30 vs. Rochester (solo HR, seventh inning)...Hit .319 (29-for-91) with a .957 OPS vs. LHP.

2022

Split the season between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, his Triple-A debut...Hit .254 with a .708 OPS (102-for-401, 22 2B, two 3B, four HR). Set career highs in games (125), runs (59), doubles (22), RBI (43) and walks (61)...His 61 BB ranked T-8th among Red Sox Minor Leaguers. Was 18-for-22 (81.8%) in stolen base attempts. Made 64 starts at 3B, 34 at 2B, nine in RF, seven at SS, three in CF and two in LF. Recognized by the Red Sox as the organization’s Minor League Defensive Player of the Month for August. Began the season with Portland...Was promoted to Worcester three times, including on 7/12 for the remainder of the season.
