The biggest name involved is No. 9 overall and top Texas prospect Sebastian Walcott. The Bahamas native first ascended to Double-A at just 18 years old last season and returned to the RoughRiders to begin 2025. Entering Tuesday, he was slashing .251/.352/.427 with eight homers and 16 doubles through 59 games. He’s one of only 23 players aged 19 or younger to get at least 250 plate appearances in a season at Double-A since 2006, joining Mike Trout, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr. on that list.
Standing at 6-foot-4, the right-handed slugger wows evaluators with his plus-plus raw power. His arm also earns 70 grades, and he’s considered an above-average runner to boot. Walcott has received the bulk of his defensive reps at shortstop in 2025 but has also sprinkled in some work at third base, where his arm strength is an asset.
Other Top 30 Rangers prospects who could feature for Frisco on Tuesday are first baseman/outfielder Abimelec Ortiz (No. 12) and middle infielder Cameron Cauley (No. 18). Entering this week, Cauley ranks fourth in the Texas League this month with a .457 on-base percentage. Right-hander Ben Anderson -- twin brother of Braves hurler Ian Anderson -- is considered Frisco’s likely starting pitcher, though that is subject to change.
No. 29 Dodgers prospect Patrick Copen could be in line to start on the mound for Tulsa. The 23-year-old right-hander is scheduled to start Wednesday and has thrown every six days in his most recent turns in the Drillers rotation. He is tied for second in the Minors with 92 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings between Double-A and High-A and has sported a 2.31 ERA and .144 average-against in that span. Copen sports a plus-plus fastball that sits in the mid 90s and features tons of carry, while his mid-80s slider and low-90s cutter also get above-average grades.
Shortstop Noah Miller (LAD No. 23) could also be a highlight for the Drillers. The 22-year-old is considered a plus-plus defender on the dirt with impressive actions and hands and a strong arm. His bat is a bigger question mark, but he’s batting .302 over 15 games with Tulsa since returning from meniscus surgery.
Next Tuesday’s contest also marks the beginning of the second half of the Double-A season. Entering this week, Frisco leads the Texas League South Division with a 36-26 record, placing it 1 1/2 games ahead of Midland and San Antonio. That means the RoughRiders could come into the game fresh off a first-half title and a punched ticket to the circuit’s postseason.
The MLB Pipeline Prospect Showcase is meant to put the spotlight on the game’s next generation of stars from the Minor League ballparks they call home. MLB Pipeline will have interviews with Walcott and No. 20 Rangers prospect Mitch Bratt ahead of Tuesday’s game and will take fans on a tour of Riders Field with special attention paid to the RoughRiders’ famous lazy river in right field.
