A little over a week after the Rockies selected high school infielder Ethan Holliday with the No. 4 pick in the Draft, Colorado signed him to a record-breaking deal.
The Rockies signed Holliday for $9 million on Tuesday, a source told MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis, setting a Draft bonus record for a high school player -- surpassing the previous mark held by Eli Willits, whom the Nationals signed to an $8.2 million bonus after selecting him first overall this year. Holliday's older brother Jackson Holliday previously held the bonus record for a high schooler after signing for $8.19 million with the Orioles in 2022.

The slot value for the No. 4 pick in 2025 is $8,770,900. Holiday’s $9 million signing bonus is tied for fourth highest in Draft history, surpassed by only three players:
RHP Chase Burns ($9.25 million, Reds, 2024, No. 2 overall)
OF Charlie Condon ($9.25 million, Rockies, 2024, No. 3 overall)
RHP Paul Skenes ($9.2 million, Pirates, 2023, No. 1 overall)
Holliday, who was MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 prospect in the Draft and hails from Stillwater High School in Oklahoma, carries immense upside for the Draft's fourth overall pick. The son of Rockies franchise great Matt Holliday, he grades out at 50 or better on the 20-80 scouting scale with all five of his tools, according to Pipeline. His best tool is 65-grade power that could make him a premier homer threat in the Majors.
Paired with Condon -- who has an .843 OPS across three Minor League levels this season and ranks as Pipeline's No. 21 overall prospect -- Holliday could complement a core of young sluggers for Colorado to build around for years to come.
