10 standouts from the 2025 High School All-American Game

LOS ANGELES -- The sixth annual MLB High School All-American Game provided a glimpse of many of the top prep prospects in the 2026 Draft class, as the American squad topped the National team, 5-3, at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday.

While previous iterations of the event have featured current up-and-coming big leaguers like Roman Anthony, Cade Horton, Tyler Soderstrom and Cole Young, along with MLB's top two prospects, in Konnor Griffin and Kevin McGonigle, this year's edition showcased potential No. 1 overall picks Jacob Lombard and Grady Emerson, 2025 High School Home Run Derby champ Beau Peterson and several players with big league ties.

Here are 10 top performers from Tuesday night's game, which will air on MLB Network at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday:

Dominic Santarelli, 1B/OF, St. Joseph Catholic Academy (Wis.)
Santarelli gave the MLB Statcast readers a jolt with a 109.8 mph RBI single for the hardest-hit ball of the game. The left-handed hitter also added a double and a walk as he earned the game’s MLB Develops MVP honors. Santarelli is known for his power, leading Wisconsin high schoolers with 11 homers this past season.

Jacob Lombard, SS, Gulliver Prep (Fla.)
Lombard put his speed on display with a pair of stolen bases. The infielder singled, walked and scored two runs while playing short and second. Like several others in this game, Lombard has Major League ties with his dad, George Sr., playing in the Majors and serving as the Tigers’ bench coach, while his brother, George Jr., is currently the Yankees’ No. 1 prospect.

Kaden Waechter, RHP, Jesuit HS (Fla.)
It’s hard for a pitcher to be more perfect than Waechter in his outing. The Florida State commit spun a 1-2-3 inning on four pitches, utilizing his sinker and his cutter on a called strike and three groundouts. Waechter is coming off a stingy high school season in the St. Petersburg area in which he registered an 0.67 ERA across 21 frames.

Trey Ebel, SS/2B, Corona (Calif.) HS; Anthony Murphy, OF, Corona (Calif.) HS
If 2025 was the year of Corona High School, 2026 is set to be a solid sequel. The Southern California school became the first high school with three players picked in the top 50 of the same Draft. Next up are infielder Ebel (younger brother of Brady, who was selected 32nd overall by the Brewers) and Murphy. Ebel laced a 98.5 mph RBI single for the American squad, while Murphy unleashed a throw from right to nail a runner at the plate.

Beau Peterson, 3B, Mill Valley HS (Kansas)
Batting cleanup in the loaded National lineup, Peterson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Last month, Peterson was lighting up a different MLB showcase, slugging 25 dingers across three rounds to win the High School Home Run Derby -- just edging his his fellow Texas commit, Emerson.

Trey Rangel, RHP, The Colony (Texas)
Rangel had his slider and sinker working as he recorded a pair of strikeouts in a perfect frame. The Texas commit is one of the top prep arms ahead of the 2026 Draft. He has a fastball that can reach 97 mph and notched 78 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings last season.

Joseph Contreras, RHP, Blessed Trinity Catholic HS (Ga.)
Contreras threw an efficient six-pitch perfect frame in which he showcased four different offerings: fastball, sinker, changeup and a 74.2 mph curveball for a called third strike. The 6-foot-4 hurler also picked up a forkball from his dad, former big leaguer Jose Contreras.

Rookie Shepard, INF, Faith Lutheran HS (Nev.)
While the American squad took the lead for good in the top of the fourth, Shepard put his own stamp on the inning defensively. The second baseman secured all three outs of the frame, including a snazzy glove flip and a quick pick on the infield grass. Shepard is a natural athlete, playing both wide receiver and defensive back on his high school football team.

Cooper Sides, RHP, Orange Lutheran HS (Calif.)
Sides showcased his four-pitch mix during a 10-pitch 1-2-3 ninth. This past spring, the 6-foot-5 righty registered an 0.80 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 44 frames while also hitting .425 in 25 games. Sides is transferring this fall to Orange Lutheran, a program which boasts Gerrit Cole (No. 1 pick in 2011 Draft out of UCLA) as an alum.
