Guardians Nike RBI

Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) is a Major League Baseball youth outreach initiative that promotes academic achievement, increases participation from youth of diverse backgrounds, and helps develop talented athletes for collegiate and professional play.

Guardians Nike RBI is a completely free program for participants, fully funded by Cleveland Guardians Charities. All costs — including uniforms, equipment, and travel — are covered, removing financial barriers so youth can focus on what matters most: growing as athletes, teammates, and leaders.

The program primarily serves the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and Play Ball! CLE leagues, with a focused investment in communities where resources and access to high-level baseball or softball are often limited. Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities where they’re needed most.

While many of our athletes come from the City of Cleveland, we intentionally include youth from surrounding communities. This intentional mix fosters shared learning, exposing players to new environments and helping them better understand each other’s challenges, strengths, and perspectives.

What sets Guardians Nike RBI apart is the hands-on involvement of active Major League Baseball players, coaches, and staff — in addition to a dedicated team of experienced RBI coaches who work with our athletes year-round. Players receive consistent instruction from RBI coaches, along with unique opportunities to learn directly from current MLB All-Stars, major league coaches actively shaping our big-league roster, and front office professionals.

Beyond the field, we are equally committed to developing well-rounded individuals. While our RBI athletes enjoy unforgettable experiences — including access to Guardians games, building relationships with MLB players, and traveling to official MLB tournaments — they also understand the importance of growth off the field. We support academic success, career readiness, and personal responsibility through STEM education, financial wellness, life skills training, and a strong emphasis on giving back. Through CLE Inspires Community Impact programs, athletes learn the value of service, using their talents and platform to uplift others and build stronger communities.
