ATLANTA -- The Braves on Tuesday acquired right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton from the Pirates for Minor League outfielder Titus Dumitru and cash considerations.
This move simply adds bullpen depth to the Braves’ organization. Stratton was immediately optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. The fact he has Minor League options remaining made him an attractive arm to acquire.
Stratton, 28, allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings in three games with Pittsburgh this season and has gone 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA in 47 career outings with the Pirates over the past three years. He's posted a 3.65 ERA in 21 relief appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis this season.
Dumitru, 22, was drafted in the 16th round by Atlanta in 2024. He's batted .231/.310/.319 with three homers and 13 steals in 64 games with High A Rome this season.
