Here are the notable trades made leading up to the Trade Deadline, which was July 31 at 6 p.m. ET. A whopping 50 trades were made in the final 31 hours leading up to the Deadline.
TOP TRADES
1. Padres acquire RHP Mason Miller and LHP JP Sears from Athletics for SS Leo De Vries, RHP Braden Nett, RHP Henry Baez and RHP Eduarniel Nuñez (July 31)
A.J. Preller strikes again. Living up to his reputation as one of MLB's most aggressive general managers, Preller paid a steep price to acquire one of MLB's most electric arms in Miller (controllable through 2029) and a durable starter in Sears (controllable through '28), sending a package headlined by De Vries (MLB Pipeline's No. 3 overall prospect) to the Athletics. Miller, MLB's reigning velocity king, has spent much of his big league tenure as a reliever, but reports have indicated that the Padres could transition the 26-year-old back to the rotation at some point. The Padres also got back Sears, who had a 4.59 ERA over 96 games (95 starts) in an Athletics uniform. Alongside De Vries, the A's also got the Padres' No. 3 (Nett), No. 13 (Baez) and No. 17 (Nuñez) prospects.
2. Astros acquire SS Carlos Correa and cash from Twins for LHP Matt Mikulski (July 31)
In an absolute stunner, Correa returns to Houston several years after leaving the club for the Twins in free agency. The longtime shortstop is expected to play third base, filling the void left by the injured Isaac Paredes. Correa, whose six-year, $200 million deal runs through 2028 and includes three club options, had to waive his no-trade clause to rejoin the Astros. Correa struggled for the Twins this season (92 OPS+), but he is a lifetime .275/.352/.465 hitter (124 OPS+) with a history of thriving under the bright lights of October.
3. Mariners acquire 3B Eugenio Suárez from D-backs for INF Tyler Locklear, RHP Hunter Cranton and RHP Juan Burgos (July 30)
The Mariners weren't messing around this Deadline, swinging separate deals for Suárez and Josh Naylor from the D-backs to bolster their offense. Suárez is in the midst of a career year, crushing 36 home runs with an .896 OPS in 106 games with the D-backs before the trade. This is Suárez’s second stint with Seattle, as he spent the 2022-23 seasons with the Mariners, hitting 53 home runs in 312 games. In return, the Mariners sent the D-backs Locklear (MLB Pipeline’s No. 9 Mariners prospect), Cranton (No. 16) and Burgos (No. 17).
4. Phillies acquire RHP Jhoan Duran from Twins for C Eduardo Tait and RHP Mick Abel (July 30)
One of the hottest available names in the reliever market came off the board as the Phillies added significant firepower to their bullpen in the form of Duran, who brings with him triple-digit fastball velocity and secondary stuff to match. Duran pitched to a 2.01 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings for the Twins this season. Tait, the Phillies' No. 4 prospect as ranked by MLB Pipeline, is an 18-year-old backstop with power potential who was recently promoted to High-A. Abel, ranked No. 2 in Philadelphia's system for several years after he was drafted, had since fallen to No. 6, but he's continued showing improvement, posting a 2.31 ERA in 13 starts as a 23-year-old in Triple-A in 2025.
5. Yankees acquire RHP David Bednar from Pirates for C Rafael Flores, C Edgleen Perez and OF Brian Sanchez (July 31)
Devin Williams' struggles as the Yankees' closer and New York's overall bullpen issues in July necessitated a major move for a late-inning arm, and the Bronx Bombers were able to accomplish that goal by landing Bednar. (They also acquired Camilo Doval and Jake Bird.) The two-time All-Star had a 5.77 ERA in 2024 and was sent to Triple-A earlier this year, but he rebounded to post a 1.70 ERA with 16 saves and 50 K's over his final 39 appearances for the Pirates. Flores and Perez were the Yankees' No. 8 and No. 14 prospects, respectively.
6. Rangers acquire RHP Merrill Kelly from D-backs for LHP Kohl Drake, RHP David Hagaman and LHP Mitch Bratt (July 31)
After watching the AL West rival Astros (Carlos Correa, Jesús Sánchez) and Mariners (Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor) make big splashes, the Rangers made one of their own shortly before the Trade Deadline. Kelly, a pending free agent who had a 3.22 ERA over 22 starts for the D-backs in 2025, will slot in behind Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi to give the Rangers an excellent trio of veteran starters to lean on down the stretch.
7. Mets acquire RHP Ryan Helsley from Cardinals for INF Jesus Baez, RHP Nate Dohm and RHP Frank Elissalt (July 30)
After acquiring Tyler Rogers from the Giants earlier in the day, the Mets remained laser-focused on improving their bullpen, swinging a deal for Helsley. Helsley, who had a 3.00 ERA and 41 K's in 36 innings for the Cardinals this season, has a high-octane four-seam fastball but leans heavily on a wipeout slider. Although he's dealt with some periods of inconsistency, he gave up just one earned run over his final 11 appearances for St. Louis dating back to June 19 (0.82 ERA in 11 IP). Baez and Dohm were both ranked among Pipeline's top 30 Mets prospects, Baez at No. 8 and Dohm at No. 14; Elissalt was a 19th round pick in the 2024 Draft recently promoted to High-A.
8. Blue Jays acquire RHP Shane Bieber from Guardians for RHP Khal Stephen (July 31)
Bieber, the 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner, hasn't pitched in a big league game since April '24. However, he is nearing a return to the Majors after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The right-hander had become increasingly likely to be traded after All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase was placed on non-disciplinary paid leave through Aug. 31 as part of an MLB investigation into sports betting. With his track record, Bieber gives the Blue Jays another starter capable of taking the ball in a playoff series. Bieber also has the choice of staying with the Blue Jays beyond 2025 by exercising his $16 million player option ($4 million buyout) for '26. Stephen, a 2024 second-round Draft pick, was Toronto's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
9. Padres acquire 1B/DH Ryan O'Hearn and OF Ramón Laureano from Orioles for 6 prospects (July 31)
After swinging a blockbuster trade with the A's for pitchers Mason Miller and JP Sears and addressing their catching void by making a deal with the Royals for Freddy Fermin, the Padres completed their third trade of the day to land a pair of bats from Baltimore. O'Hearn (13 HR, 135 OPS+) and Laureano (15 HR, 145 OPS+) were two of the O's best hitters this season and should give San Diego's top-heavy lineup a much-needed boost.
10. Yankees acquire 3B Ryan McMahon from Rockies for LHP Griffin Herring and RHP Josh Grosz (July 25)
Although the Yankees were linked heavily to D-backs slugger Eugenio Suárez in their search for a third baseman, they ended up with McMahon, who hit 16 home runs for the Rockies this season and has reached the 20-homer mark every year since 2021. A left-handed bat and plus defender at the hot corner, McMahon is under contract for a relatively manageable $16 million in 2026 and '27 while Suárez is a free agent after this season. Herring and Grosz were the Yankees' No. 8 and No. 21 prospects, respectively.
11. Mariners acquire 1B Josh Naylor from D-backs for LHP Brandyn Garcia and RHP Ashton Izzi (July 25)
By acquiring Naylor, the Mariners added a significant bat to their lineup at a position of need. In 93 games with the D-backs -- his first year with Arizona -- Naylor had an .807 OPS and 11 home runs. At the time of the trade, Naylor was a career .267/.329/.444 hitter with 95 home runs. In exchange, Seattle sent Garcia (MLB Pipeline's No. 13 Mariners prospect) and Izzi (No. 16).
12. Red Sox acquire RHP Dustin May from Dodgers for OF James Tibbs III and Zach Ehrhard (July 31)
In need of rotation help, the Red Sox acquired May, who has a lengthy injury history but has been durable this year. The 27-year-old right-hander made 19 appearances (18 starts) for the Dodgers this season, posting a 4.85 ERA in an uneven campaign. Tibbs, meanwhile, was Boston’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old outfielder, whom the Red Sox acquired from the Giants in the deal that sent Rafael Devers to San Francisco, was the 13th overall pick in the 2024 Draft, and posted a .763 OPS with 13 homers between High-A and Double-A this season. Ehrhard, also 22, was Boston’s No. 27 prospect and posted a .270/.371/.434 slash line with nine homers and 23 steals between High-A and Double-A in the Red Sox system.
13. Rays acquire RHP Griffin Jax from Twins for RHP Taj Bradley (July 31)
One day after the Twins traded their closer, Jhoan Duran, they shipped away their setup man, Jax. The Rays are the beneficiaries, landing a right-hander who misses bats at an elite level. Jax isn’t having the sort of dominant season that he did last year -- his 4.50 ERA is more than double last year’s mark of 2.03 -- but he’s under team control through 2027 and shores up a Tampa Bay bullpen that desperately needed reinforcements. In return, the Twins land the 24-year-old Bradley, a former top prospect who started 67 games for the Rays across the last three seasons. Bradley pitched to a 4.61 with the big league club this season and was recently demoted to Triple-A Durham.
14. Yankees acquire RHP Camilo Doval from Giants for 4 prospects (July 31)
After trading for one of the top closers on the market in David Bednar, the Yankees added another top closer in Doval. The flamethrowing 28-year-old right-hander has 15 saves, a 3.09 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings over 47 appearances this season. Doval is also under team control until 2028. The Yankees have now loaded up their bullpen for the playoff push, with Bednar, Doval, Devin Williams, Luke Weaver and Tim Hill all late-inning options.
15. Mets acquire RHP Tyler Rogers from Giants for RHP José Buttó, RHP Blade Tidwell and OF Drew Gilbert (July 30)
Both Rogers twins were traded on the same day, as the Mets continued to shore up their bullpen by adding the longtime member of the Giants' relief corps. Rogers, with his unconventional submarine-style delivery, had made an MLB-high 53 appearances at the time of the deal, posting a 1.80 ERA with a 0.86 WHIP over 50 innings of work. Buttó, 27, has been a reliable member of the Mets' bullpen for the better part of the last two seasons and had a 3.64 ERA across 47 innings of work for the Mets in 2025; Tidwell and Gilbert were ranked No. 10 and No. 12 in the Mets' system by MLB Pipeline, respectively.
16. Reds acquire RHP Zack Littell, Rays acquire C Hunter Feduccia and RHP Brian Van Belle and Dodgers acquire LHP Adam Serwinowski, RHP Paul Gervase and C Ben Rortvedt (July 30)
This was a bit of a surprising move for the Reds, considering they have one of the better rotations in baseball and should welcome back Hunter Greene from injury soon. Littell had a 3.58 ERA in 22 starts (133 1/3 innings) for the Rays this season after a breakout 2024 campaign where the right-hander had a 3.63 ERA in 29 starts (156 1/3 innings). Littell was just one part of a larger three-team trade that saw the Rays acquire a pair of players and the Dodgers receive three players.
17. Phillies acquire OF Harrison Bader from Twins for OF Hendry Mendez and RHP Geremy Villoria (July 31)
One day after the Phillies landed closer Jhoan Duran from the Twins, the two sides linked up again for a smaller deal that filled Philadelphia's need for a righty-swinging outfielder. Bader proved to be a worthwhile pickup for the Twins on a one-year contract, providing more offense than expected (12 HR, .778 OPS) and continuing to play strong defense in center field. Mendez was Philadelphia's No. 12 prospect. Villoria, who will turn 17 in August, recently made his professional debut at the Rookie level.
18. Mets acquire OF Cedric Mullins from Orioles for RHP Anthony Nunez, RHP Raimon Gomez and RHP Chandler Marsh (July 31)
Searching for a center-field upgrade, the Mets reportedly talked to the White Sox about Luis Robert Jr. but ultimately pivoted to Mullins, a pending free agent who had a .229 average with 15 homers, 14 steals and a .738 OPS for the O's in 2025. The return package is headlined by Nunez, who ranked as the Mets' No. 14 prospect.
19. Reds acquire 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes from Pirates for INF Sammy Stafura and LHP Taylor Rogers (July 30)
Despite also being tied to Eugenio Suárez, the Reds, like the Yankees, chose to pivot to a more affordable option, acquiring Gold Glove third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes from their division rival. Although a gifted infielder, Hayes has never managed to live up to expectations on the other side of the ball and was hitting .236/.279/.290 (59 OPS+) with 10 doubles, two triples and two homers when he was traded to Cincinnati. Stafura, a shortstop, was ranked the No. 9 prospect in Cincinnati's system by MLB Pipeline, while the 34-year-old Rogers is enjoying another solid year out of the bullpen, having posted a 2.45 ERA in 33 innings for the Reds.
20. Yankees acquire UTIL José Caballero from Rays for OF Everson Pereira and a player to be named later or cash (July 31)
The Yankees acquired Caballero from the Rays … in the middle of their game against the Rays. Caballero simply had to go from one dugout to the other. The 28-year-old brings an injection of speed and defensive versatility to the Bronx Bombers. Caballero is tied for the Major League lead with 34 stolen bases this season after leading the AL with 44 steals a year ago. And he can play any position around the infield, as well as the outfield if need be. Caballero is under team control through the 2029 season.
