What’s Happening This Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend at Citizens Bank Park: Phillies vs. Tigers, August 1-3

Legends return to Citizens Bank Park! Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony honoring Jimmy Rollins and Ed Wade; Dick Allen Hall of Fame Pregame Recognition; Toyota Phillies Alumni Night and Salute to the 75th Anniversary of the Whiz Kids!

Get ready for a fun-filled weekend at Citizens Bank Park as the Phillies take on the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series from August 1-3. Here’s a look at some of the fan highlights and festivities surrounding Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend, with more than 50 former players and coaches scheduled to make appearances, including Hall of Famers, Wall of Famers, All-Stars and more.

  1. Be in your seats by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, for the Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony honoring Jimmy Rollins and Ed Wade, taking place before the 6:45 p.m. game. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:45 p.m.; all other gates 5:15 p.m.
    • Phillies Wall of Famers return to celebrate the legacies of Jimmy Rollins, one of the most legendary players to wear red pinstripes, all-time hits leader and 2008 World Series champion; and Ed Wade, former vice president and general manager responsible for drafting and developing much of the core of the 2008 world championship Phillies team.
    • Participants include Ryan Howard, who was a longtime teammate with Rollins, and Phillies Wall of Famer Larry Bowa, the first managerial hire during Wade’s tenure as general manager.
    • Rollins and Wade’s plaques will be unveiled on the prestigious Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame, a tradition that began in 1978 in Veterans Stadium. Plus, Phillies managing partner and CEO John Middleton will present Phillies Wall of Fame rings, all before Rollins and Wade take a victory lap around the ballpark.
    • Other pregame highlights include a ceremonial first pitch by Thomas Brady, representing Nemours Children’s Health, on behalf of Toyota.
    • At the end of the third inning, Wade’s grandchildren will have the honor of changing a base.
    • Plus, Mandy Brady of Nemours Children’s Health will be recognized as the night’s Hometown Hero presented by Toyota at the end of the sixth inning.
    • The Phillies will wear their City Connect uniforms as part of another Lights Up // Friday Night at the Bank.
    • Prior to the first pitch, Miller Lite 12 oz. cans will be available at Miller Lite Liberty Landing for $6.99.

Be in your seats by 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, as the Phillies tip their caps to Dick Allen, one of the top sluggers of his generation and the club's first Black superstar, for his recent posthumous induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. The on-field recognition will take place before the 4:05 p.m. game. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 1:35 p.m.; all other gates 2:35 p.m.
    • Among those taking part will be Allen’s widow, Willa Allen, and son, Richard Allen, as well as other family members. The legacy of No. 15 will be celebrated with a special video on PhanaVision, and Allen’s Baseball Hall of Fame plaque will also be on display during the pregame recognition.
    • Jimmy Rollins and Ed Wade will return to throw a ceremonial first pitch. Also throwing a first pitch will be Chase Merriweather of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, on behalf of Toyota.
    • Philadelphia Orchestra’s Low Brass Quartet will perform the national anthem.
    • Photo Opportunity! Take photos with Allen’s Baseball Hall of Fame plaque, 1:35 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. to the 6th inning, at the Phillies Authentics stand behind Section 133.
    • Stop by the pregame Budweiser Block Party featuring DJ HBK at the Batter's Eye Bar behind Section 148 in Ashburn Alley.
  1. The series concludes with Toyota Phillies Alumni Night and Salute to the 75th Anniversary of the Whiz Kids on Sunday, August 3, at the 7:05 p.m. game, exclusively broadcast on ESPN. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:40 p.m.; all other gates 5:40 p.m.
    • Be in your seats by 6:30 p.m. as Phillies legends spanning 65 years of club history, including Hall of Famers, Wall of Famers and World Series champions, will take the field and be recognized pregame.
    • In addition, the club will salute the 1950 Phillies, the Whiz Kids, who won the National League pennant 75 years ago. Highlights include a video tribute on PhanaVision, and a ceremonial first pitch by Robin Roberts III and Richard Ashburn, Jr.
    • At the end of the 3rd inning, Phillies alumni will perform a ceremonial base change.
    • Plus, be on the lookout for former players throughout the ballpark taking photos, guest bartending, shooting hot dogs and more.
  1. In honor of Alumni Weekend, fans are invited to bid on team-issued and game-used autographed memorabilia items signed by Phillies alumni as part of the Phillies Charities Online Auction until 6:00 p.m. on August 11, at com/auctions.
    • Features signed memorabilia from former players and staff including Larry Bowa, Steve Carlton, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Ryan Howard, Brad Lidge, Charlie Manuel, Mickey Morandini, Carlos Ruiz, Juan Samuel and Chase Utley.
  1. Also, there will be new and limited-edition merchandise celebrating Jimmy Rollins and Dick Allen (starting August 1) at the New Era Phillies Team Store, as well as commemorative Phillies Wall of Fame cups at concession stands throughout the ballpark.
