Here is everything you need to know about this unique three-day event.
What is Players' Weekend?
It's a chance for players to be themselves, showcase their personalities or help their favorite charities. The idea is to celebrate big leaguers for more than their stats while telling their stories in a way that connects with young fans and casual followers. These stories will be featured and amplified in various ways, from in-stadium and broadcast elements to social media content and more.
When is Players' Weekend?
The weekend kicks off Friday and continues through Sunday. All 30 teams will participate.
What are the themes of Players' Weekend?
The 2025 edition will feature a different theme each day, and those themes will be displayed in stadiums, on broadcasts and on social media. Here's the thematic breakdown of each day's theme:
Off-Field Interests: Showcasing players’ passions and interests off the field.
Causes: Focusing on charitable and community initiatives that are important to players.
Appreciation: Celebrating the people who helped them on their path to the Major Leagues.
Will players be using personalized items on the field?
Yes. There won't be any special uniforms with players' nicknames or other slogans like we saw from 2017-19, but players will get the chance to bring the aforementioned themes to life through personalized bats and cleats. Players will wear their numbers on the side of their existing game caps as well as branded batting practice shirts before games. Each base is expected to feature a Players' Weekend logo as well.
Can fans get their hands on those items?
After the weekend, players will have the opportunity to auction off their custom bats and cleats on MLB Auctions to benefit charities of their choice. Be sure to sign up for the MLB Auctions Newsletter to find out what custom gear from the weekend will be available for purchase.
How does the Little League Classic fit into this?
The Little League Classic, which debuted in 2017 and features two MLB teams in a regular-season game at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa., has been once again incorporated into Players' Weekend for 2025. This year's game, pitting the Mariners against the Mets, will air on ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" at 7 p.m. ET. This will be the first trip to the Little League Classic for the Mariners and the second for the Mets, who played the Phillies in 2018.
Players, coaches and families taking part in the 2025 Little League World Series will once again make up a large portion of the crowd for the game.
