After being out of lineup, Correa downplays chance of trade before Deadline

MINNEAPOLIS -- Unlike many players, has full say over where he will be playing after Thursday's 5 p.m. CT Trade Deadline. And as of now, he expects he will still be a Minnesota Twin.

Correa, the subject of trade rumors on Wednesday morning after the Astros inquired about his potential availability, reminded reporters after the Twins’ game against the Red Sox that in the end, it’s his decision. And he’s not in a hurry to leave Minnesota, even if it’s for a place where he has many warm memories.

“I've got full control,” Correa said. “We'll see how it goes. You listen to the rumors and all that, it feels like it happens every year. But you've just got to let it play out.”

Correa also downplayed the likelihood that a trade would even be brought to him for a potential approval or veto.

“That's not something I … think is serious right now,” he said. “We'll see where everything goes. But my goal has always been to be here and win here. I've been talking to [Twins president of baseball and business operations] Derek [Falvey] and [manager] Rocco [Baldelli] and I'll be ready for the next series.”

As for his health -- which was also a question before Wednesday's 13-1 loss to the Red Sox -- Correa said that it was significantly improved. He was removed from Tuesday’s game and sat out Wednesday as the result of a migraine. But after further examination Wednesday morning, he said he expects to play Friday after the Twins’ off-day.

“It's been happening for two days prior,” he said. “It would go away and then [Tuesday], it wouldn't go away. It was the right side of my head. I wanted to get it scanned, and make sure all the bad was discarded and it was just that. We got an MRI and everything was good. Got some meds and we'll be ready for the next series.”
