Mets Acquire All-Star CF Cedric Mullins

FLUSHING, N.Y., July 31, 2025 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has acquired center fielder Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor league RHPs Raimon Gómez, Anthony Nunez and Chandler Marsh. In corresponding moves, outfielder Jesse Winker has been transferred to the 60-Day Injured List. RHP Tyler Rogers has reported to the Major League team and RHP Chris Devenski has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

Mullins, 30, is batting .229/.305/.433 with 19 doubles, 15 homers, 49 RBI, 14 stolen bases and a .738 OPS in 91 games with the Baltimore Orioles this season. In 23 games in July, Mullins has hit .290/.346/.522 with seven doubles, three homers, 10 RBI, six steals and an .868 OPS. He owns an .866 OPS vs. southpaws, the sixth-highest mark in the majors by a left-handed hitter (min. 80 PA). Mullins has seen 4.24 pitches per plate appearance, which is the ninth-best mark in the majors.

Over eight years, all with the Orioles, Mullins has hit .250/.318/.426 with 388 runs, 140 doubles, 20 triples, 101 homers, 327 RBI, 139 steals and a .744 OPS. The Greensboro, NC native is one is one of 14 players in the majors to accumulate 100+ home runs and 100+ stolen bases since 2018. He was named to the 2021 American League All-Star team and won a Silver Slugger Award after finishing the season with a 6.2 bWAR, slashing .291/.360/.518 with 37 doubles, 30 homers, and 59 RBI. Since 2019, Mullins ranks tied for fourth among centerfielders in both outs above average (39) and runs prevented (35) per Statcast. He was originally selected in the 13th round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Campbell University in North Carolina.

Gómez, 23, was signed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on August 9, 2021. Nunez, 24, was signed by the Mets as a minor league free agent on June 14, 2024. Marsh, 22, was signed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on July 22, 2024.
