Top 100 prospect Farmelo goes deep in High-A debut, first game since ACL injury

April 30th, 2025

Jonny Farmelo kicked off his 2025 with a bang.

The Mariners’ No. 6 prospect starred in his first game since tearing his ACL midway through the 2024 season, debuting for High-A Everett. The dynamic outfielder flashed the power portion of his five-tool kit Tuesday night vs. Eugene, mashing a two-run homer off southpaw Cesar Perdomo to give the AquaSox a temporary lead in the fifth inning.

The jack marked Everett’s only runs of the game as the AquaSox fell to the Emeralds in walk-off fashion, 3-2, at PK Park.

Farmelo went 1-for-4 on the night. For the 20-year-old, a season-opening big fly was an ideal start at the plate.

The No. 92 prospect on MLB’s Top 100 list is one of seven Mariners among that group, which also includes Everett teammates Colt Emerson (No. 19) and Lazaro Montes (No. 39).

Farmelo was taken with the No. 29 overall pick out of a Virginia high school in 2023. He slashed .264/.398/.421 with four homers and 25 RBIs for Single-A Modesto in 2024 before a misstep in the outfield ended his season prematurely. He’s a speed merchant on the basepaths as well, having swiped 18 bags in 46 games for the squad prior to the injury.
