Mariners in the Community

Commitment to Community

Serving our communities has always been a pillar of the Seattle Mariners mission.

We use our unique voice, trusted partnerships and the inspirational power of baseball to ensure that everyone in our region can thrive. Baseball is about working together as a team to become better and stronger every day, and we bring this same spirit to our engagement with communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Since the Mariners’ nonprofit foundation was established in 1991, more than $30 million has been raised to benefit primarily youth-oriented community service programs, and we focus our efforts in three areas:

Ensuring Access to Baseball & Softball

The Mariners Care Foundation funds efforts to make baseball and softball accessible to all young people in our region. We strive to increase equity, remove barriers to participation and grow competitive play regardless of a young athlete’s socioeconomic status. Our On BASE programs, including camps and clinics, Hometown Nine, Mariners Training Centers and Nike RBI, are the centerpiece of this commitment.

Advancing Equity Justice

Our communities should be places where everyone can thrive. The Mariners and the Mariners Care Foundation are dedicating our people, partnerships and philanthropy to help make this possible. Across King County and Washington state, there is a sizable gap between the health and economic outcomes of many Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) individuals and their white peers. The systems that created this gulf compromise the vitality of communities throughout the region, and the Mariners work for systemic change to support opportunities for health and economic stability.

Making Our Hometown Healthier & More Vibrant

The Mariners Care Foundation prioritizes causes that attract the passion and energies of our staff and players. We are committed to supporting actions that positively transform our communities and bring together people from all walks of life. Events like park clean-ups, staff service days, food drives, hospital visits and other activities happening off the field ensure that the entire Mariners organization is working in service to our greater community.
