Since 2009, the Cardinals have supported Susan G. Komen's fight against breast cancer through their annual race/walk. Over the years, fans on the Cardinals Team have helped raise over $794,000 in support of a cure.

In 2024, you helped make us the top team at the event by raising more than $36,400 towards the cause.

This year, the Cardinals and Mercy, our official medical provider, are again hosting a team at the 2025 Komen Greater St. Louis MORE THAN PINK Walk ™. And we want YOU to join our team!

7:30 a.m. | Walk Site Opens
8:45 a.m. | Survivors and those living with Metastatic Breast Cancer meet at Hope Village
9:00 a.m. | Opening Ceremony
9:30 a.m. | Walk Begins

Why: To celebrate survivors and those living with breast cancer, to honor loved ones lost, and to raise funds to support Komen's lifesaving mission.

Fundraising: While registration for the Walk is free, all participants are encouraged to fundraise to help save lives – this event is about going from awareness to action! Members of the Cardinals Walk Team, presented by Mercy, who register and contribute $25 by Walk Day on June 7 will receive an exclusive Cardinals Team t-shirt and commemorative Rawlings Breast Cancer baseball while supplies last. Team members are encouraged to register and meet the fundraising minimum by May 12 to guarantee the desired shirt size. Those wishing to receive a commemorative Walk t-shirt from Komen need to register and fundraise $100 or more in order to be eligible for a shirt. All survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will receive a special t-shirt from Komen regardless of fundraising level. Additional fundraising recognition gifts are also available through Komen. More fundraising perks are listed below.

Being a member of the Cardinals Walk Team, presented by Mercy, has perks!

Each Walk registrant receives access to the event and fundraising center. Cardinals Walk Team Members are also eligible for the following EXCLUSIVE team perks:

Join our team: Everyone who signs up for the Cardinals Walk Team, presented by Mercy, is automatically entered into a raffle to win.
Raise $25 or More: Cardinals Team members who contribute $25 or more receive an exclusive Cardinals Walk Team t-shirt, presented by Mercy, and commemorative Rawlings Breast Cancer baseball while supplies last. Cardinals Team t-shirts and baseballs MUST be picked up during one of the Cardinals' team t-shirt pickup events in June, or on Walk Day. TEAM SHIRTS AND BASEBALLS CANNOT BE MAILED. Dates and time to be announced. While supplies last. Only team members who register and meet the fundraising minimum by Walk Day (June 7) will be eligible to pick up their t-shirt and baseball, however, we encourage team members to register and meet the fundraising minimum by May 12 to guarantee your shirt size.
Raise $100 or More: Cardinals Team members who fundraise $100 or more are automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win 4 field box tickets to a mutually agreeable Cardinals game.
Top Fundraiser: Our team's top fundraiser* will receive an engraved Rawlings baseball bat, 4 field box tickets and the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial pitch prior to a mutually agreeable Cardinals game.
All Walk participants (regardless of team affiliation) who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a commemorative event t-shirt from Komen. All survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will receive a special t-shirt from Komen regardless of fundraising level. Komen-provided shirts will be mailed this year. More info provided on the registration site.

*Please note that Komen's official event fundraising ends on July 6, 2025. All Cardinals team fundraising incentives (with the exception of t-shirt/baseball distribution) will be awarded after fundraising ends at midnight on July 6, 2025.

Why We Walk - Meet our Honorary Team Captain

Meet previous Honorary Team Captains

2023 - Eileen Flaherty

Serving as this year's Cardinals Walk Team Honorary Captain is Eileen Flaherty, mother of Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty and a breast cancer survivor. Eileen was diagnosed with endometrial/uterine cancer in July 2020 resulting in a total hysterectomy and multiple lymph node removal on October 2nd.

On October 4th, 2021, seven months after completing her initial radiation therapy and one year after her original cancer diagnosis, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a lumpectomy and lymph removal, she started daily radiation therapy for thirty days. Although Eileen is currently cancer free, she reports to her oncologist every six months until she reaches the 5-year cancer-free milestone marker. We hope fans will join us in walking for Eileen and all of those who have battled and continue to battle this disease.

"Every human deserves kindness, understanding, grace and empathy. For some, sharing their story is an integral part of the healing journey," said Eileen. "My sons, Jack and Grady, my family, my extended friend group and my rock-star girlfriends rallied for me these last 2 years. I hope you'll rally with the Cardinals at this year's MORE THAN PINK walk as we raise funds to support Komen's mission to save lives and end breast cancer."

2021 - Mindy Strauss

The Komen cause is special to the Cardinals every year, but this season we're walking for a family member - our Honorary Team Captain, Mindy Strauss.

As one of the inaugural volunteers for the team's charity, Cardinals Care, Mindy has selflessly dedicated over 20 years supporting the foundation's mission of caring for kids rarely missing an opportunity to serve.

However, in November of 2019, life threw Mindy a curveball when she discovered a lump in her breast. In January of 2020, Mindy began 20 weeks of chemotherapy – a demanding journey riddled with hair loss and side effects, made even more challenging by the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. But in May, Mindy got to 'ring the bell' signaling the end of chemo. Shortly after, she proactively underwent a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery, and today, doctors say there is no cancer left in her body.

This year, our team walks in support of Mindy’s journey. She's given so much to our organization as a volunteer, and she's constantly rooting us on as a fan. Now, it's our turn to cheer for her. We hope you'll join us as we celebrate our survivor!
