Justin Lebron, Justin Lehman and Nun Parache earn national recognition from College Baseball Foundation

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Justin Lebron (Alabama), Justin Lehman (Army West Point) and Nuno Parache (Nicholls) earned weekly honors from the College Baseball Foundation (CBF) for their respective performances last week.

Lebron earned the Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week while Lehman was named the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week. Parache was selected as the National Pitcher of the Week.

Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week (Nation’s Most Outstanding Shortstop)

Justin Lebron, IF, Sophomore, Alabama, Miramar, Fla.

Lebron had a standout week at the plate and in the field in helping the Crimson Tide win a midweek decision against the No. 19 Troy Trojans and capture a weekend series win over the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa. The shortstop was 7-for-13 (.538) with five runs scored and four RBI on the week. He also earned two doubles, a walk and a stolen base. Lebron tallied two hits and two runs scored against the Trojans on Tuesday before turning in a 3-for-4 performance in the series clincher against the Bulldogs on Sunday. In the field, the sophomore made only one error on 14 chances for the week, earning eight assists and five putouts. Lebron is hitting .317 this season with 17 home runs and 65 RBI. He has a fielding percentage of .971.

John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week Award

Justin Lehman, 1B/RHP, Senior, Army, Fort Mill, S.C.

Lehman was outstanding on the mound and at the plate last weekend, helping the Black Knights to a Patriot League semifinal series victory over rival Navy. The right-hander tossed seven innings, scattering 11 hits and allowing only one earned run in earning the victory in Army’s 13-2 win over the Midshipmen in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday. Lehman threw 142 pitches and tallied six strikeouts in the victory. For the weekend at the plate, he was 5-for-13 (.385) with four RBI, one double, one triple and one sacrifice fly. In the deciding game of the series, Lehman earned three hits in three at bats, two walks, including a leadoff walk in the decisive 10th inning, and two RBI in helping Army to a series-clinching 6-5, 10-inning win. With the victory, the Black Nights advanced to the Patriot League Championship series where they will play Holy Cross.

National Pitcher of the Week

Nuno Parache, RHP, Junior, Nicholls State, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Parache was dealing for the Colonels on Thursday night, tossing a complete game two-hitter in a 13-0 seven-inning run-rule victory over Southeastern (Louisiana). The right-hander hit one batter and didn’t issue a walk in his seven innings of work. Parache struck out a season-high 10 batters on 98 pitches in earning the victory. The junior raised his record to 4-1 on the season. Nicholls has won four of the last five games in which Parache has appeared on the mound.

College Baseball Foundation Weekly Honors

Brooks Wallace Award

The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding shortstop. It is a tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Prior to 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.

John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award

The John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award is presented annually by the College Baseball Foundation to honor the nation's top combo pitcher-position player. Olerud, who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, was a standout pitcher and first baseman at Washington State from 1987 through 1989.

About the College Baseball Hall of Fame

Each year, more than 190 representatives nationwide vote on the College Baseball Hall of Fame induction class. The voting body is comprised of national and regional college baseball media, active and retired coaches, former players, former inductees, college baseball historians and members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) collegiate baseball committee.
