Injury: Right flexor strain

Status: Loáisiga sustained a right flexor strain during a Minor League rehab appearance Aug. 17, a diagnosis confirmed by Dr. Keith Meister. Loáisiga’s injury is season-ending, Aaron Boone said Aug. 28. (updated Aug. 28)
RHP Gerrit Cole
Injury: Right elbow ligament tear
IL date: March 22 (60-day)
Expected return: May 2026
Status: Resumed playing catch Aug. 11 following Tommy John surgery on March 11 in Los Angeles. The procedure was a complete UCL reconstruction that included an internal brace. The Yankees are planning on a 14-month recovery from the date of surgery. (updated Aug. 11) More >>
RHP Clarke Schmidt
Injury: Tommy John surgery
IL date: July 4 (15-day, transferred to 60-day on July 30)
Expected return: Likely 2027
Status: Underwent Tommy John surgery July 11. Schmidt said July 28 it was not a full reconstruction, with an internal brace used. He has been given a recovery timeline of 11-13 months, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 30. This was Schmidt’s second TJ procedure; his first was when he was a junior at University of South Carolina. (updated July 30) More >>
3B Oswaldo Cabrera
Injury: Left ankle fracture
IL date: May 13 (10-day IL, transferred to 60-day IL on June 19)
Expected return: Likely 2026
Status: Underwent surgery to repair a fractured left ankle and ligament damage May 15. Manager Aaron Boone: “probably unlikely” Cabrera will return this season. On June 5, Cabrera said recovery is going well; using scooter and protective boot. Has not ruled out returning this year. (updated June 19) More >>
