Status: Was returned from his rehab assignment June 11 with what Aaron Boone said appears to be a UCL injury. Boone said on June 14 that he is moving toward Tommy John surgery, but that has not been finalized. (updated June 14)
RHP Luis Gil
Injury: Right lat strain

Expected return: Possibly July/August
Status: Is about 10-14 days from facing live hitters, Aaron Boone said on June 14. Began tossing from a bullpen mound on May 30, which marked his first time doing so since sustaining the injury in late February. (updated June 14) More >>

Injury: Left hamstring strain

Expected return: June/July

RHP Marcus Stroman
Injury: Left knee inflammation

Expected return: June
Status: Threw 3 1/3 innings (46 pitches) and struck out four in his first rehab start for Double-A Somerset on June 11. Recovered well the day after his outing. Is being built up as a starter. (updated June 12)
3B Oswaldo Cabrera
Injury: Left ankle fracture
IL date: May 13 (10-day)
Expected return: Likely 2026
Status: Underwent surgery to repair a fractured left ankle and ligament damage May 15. Aaron Boone: “probably unlikely” Cabrera will return this season. Cabrera said June 5 recovery is going well; using scooter and protective boot. Has not ruled out returning this year. (updated June 5) More >>
RHP JT Brubaker
Injury: Fractured ribs
IL date: March 24 (60-day)
Expected return: Possibly June
Status: Made a rehab appearance with High-A Hudson Valley on May 18 and pitched 2 2/3 innings (49 pitches) for Double-A Somerset on May 23 (2 R, ER, H, 3 BB). Tossed four innings (48 pitches) of scoreless, one-hit ball for Somerset on May 29. Rehab was transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 3. (updated June 3)
RHP Gerrit Cole
Injury: Right elbow ligament tear
IL date: March 22 (60-day)
Expected return: 2026
Status: Underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on March 11 in Los Angeles. The procedure, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, was a complete UCL reconstruction that also included an internal brace. Cole said May 5 he expects to resume playing catch in August and is planning on a 14-month recovery from the date of surgery. (updated May 6) More >>
