Here are Friday's top prospect performances from the Minors

May 31st, 2025

There must be something in the air because the ball was flying on Friday night, with top prospects homering from coast to coast. Jac Caglianone continued his demolition derby at Triple-A, while Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott lassoed the first multihomer game of his young pro career at Double-A. That and much more from a packed night across the Minors.

Sebastian Walcott, SS, Frisco (TEX No. 1/MLB No. 9)
Walcott delivered the first multihomer game of his career, jumpstarting the Frisco bats with a leadoff roundtripper. The youngest regular (19 years, 77 days) at the Double-A level, the native of The Bahamas has settled back in during May, seeing his OPS rise above .800 for the first time since late April. Twenty-one of his 45 hits this season have gone for extra bases. Full story | Gameday

Jac Caglianone, 1B, Omaha (KC No. 1/MLB No. 10)
Make it six homers in the past eight games at Triple-A for one of the Minors' most captivating prospects. Caglianone extended his MiLB RBI lead (55), while also walloping a 442-foot roundtripper in the first. Adding a little sizzle, it marked the first homer at Omaha's Werner Park for the sixth overall pick in the 2024 Draft and it featured a prescient call on the broadcast. Full story | Gameday

Bubba Chandler, RHP, Indianapolis (PIT No. 1/MLB No. 2)
In his first taste of Triple-A last season, Chandler impressed with a 4-0 record and a 1.83 ERA over seven starts. He has picked up where he left off with Friday’s start as no exception. The 22-year-old allowed no runs on four hits over five innings while striking out eight batters. Six of his pitches exceeded 100 miles per hour. Chandler has allowed two runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts this season with an impressive 12.8 K/9 rate. Gameday

Charlie Condon, OF/3B, Spokane (COL No. 2/MLB No. 27)
Condon may have had some questions surrounding his game at last July’s Draft, but none of them were about his power potential. The 6-foot-6 slugger, who set multiple school home run records during his 2024 season at Georgia, launched his first home run of 2025 in the first inning. Condon, working his way back from a wrist fracture sustained during Spring Training, tacked on a single in his next at-bat, marking his third consecutive multihit performance at High-A. Gameday

Kevin McGonigle, SS, West Michigan (DET No. 2/MLB No. 26)
It’s been a rocky start to the season for McGonigle, who suffered an injury just one game into the season and missed the next month. After a rehab stint at Single-A, the 20-year-old is back at High-A and punishing opposing pitchers. Friday’s victory featured a career-high four hits, including a ninth-inning home run. In his eight games with West Michigan, McGonigle is batting .464 with a 1.404 OPS. Gameday

Lazaro Montes, OF, Everett (SEA No. 2/MLB No. 36)
The Northwest League home run lead has been a back-and-forth battle between Montes and Arjun Nimmala (TOR No. 1) all season, but the Mariners outfield prospect is starting to pull away. Montes’ latest performance featured his 11th jack of the year, giving him a two-homer lead over the opposition. The roundtripper -- like most of Montes’ dingers -- was a laser off the bat (114 mph), so much so that the opposing outfielders simply turned and watched it fly without even attempting to track it down. Montes also recorded a single and a walk in the contest, and sports a .966 OPS for High-A Everett. Gameday

Bryce Eldridge, 1B, Richmond (SF No. 1/MLB No. 21)
Considering how advanced Eldridge is at the dish at just 20 years old, it’s easy to forget the 6-foot-7 slugger was announced as a two-way player when he was selected in the first round in 2023. Based off his body of work, which he bolstered in Richmond’s win, it’s safe to say he made the right choice. Eldridge collected two knocks, including a towering two-run homer -- his seventh of the season. The big fly was also his second in the past three contests and raised his OPS to .897 through 32 games at Double-A. Gameday

Brice Matthews, 2B, Sugar Land (HOU No. 1)
A 2023 first-round pick, Matthews quickly climbed the ranks in his first full pro season, reaching Triple-A in early September last year. He has settled into the Sugar Land lineup in 2025, particularly in May, where he has put together a .320 average in 14 games. Friday marked the second consecutive three-hit game for Matthews, both of which have included a home run. He added a single and a double to fall a triple shy of a cycle. Gameday

Eric Bitonti, 1B/3B, Carolina (MIL No. 7)
Despite being just 19 years old, Bitonti is showing flashes of his 65-grade power early this season. The 6-foot-4 infielder did much of the heavy lifting in Carolina's win with two home runs -- including a grand slam -- during a five-RBI night. It matches his most productive appearance of the season. Gameday
