Major League Baseball and the Rays Play Ball Weekend celebrates the games of baseball and softball through a day of instruction and fun activities, encouraging kids to play ball.
Friday, June 13
The Rays will launch Play Ball Weekend with a baseball clinic for children of families stationed and working at MacDill Air Force. Rays training staff and coaches from Eckerd College will teach skills, run drills and coach a friendly game for boys and girls ages 5 and up, before serving lunch to attendees. MacDill Air Force Base is home to the 6th Air Refueling Wing, as well as headquarters for United States Central Command and United States Special Operations Command.
Saturday, June 14
The Rays will host a Major League Baseball Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth Clinic for children from the Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg at Woodlawn Park. St. Pete PAL, which recently became an affiliate of Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (R.B.I.), will enjoy a day of baseball magic, learning the fundamentals of the game from former Major League Baseball players. The children, ranging from 6 to 16 years old, will also enjoy lunch, games and hear important life lessons that will translate on and off the field.
