Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Monday night’s series opener against the Athletics at Globe Life Field:
- Right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock.
- Right-handed pitcher Caleb Boushley optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
- Right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert designated for assignment.
- Left-handed pitcher Walter Pennington acquired by Baltimore via waiver claim.
Dunning, 30, has made 5 starts for Round Rock this season, going 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA (12 ER/20.0 IP), 21 strikeouts, 9 walks, and a .278 (22-79) opponent’s batting average. Over his last 3 Triple-A outings (beg. 4/11), the right-hander yielded 5 earned runs over 14.2 innings for a 3.07 ERA, fanning 17 batters in that span for a 10.43 strikeouts per 9.0 figure. The right-hander most recently saw game action on Thursday for Round Rock against Las Vegas, allowing 2 earned runs over 5.1 innings (6 H, 2 BB, 6 SO, 84 pitches/52 strikes) in a 7-6 Express victory. In 5 games/one start for Texas in Cactus League play this spring, Dunning went 1-1 with an 8.18 ERA (10 ER/11.0 IP) before he was outrighted to the minor leagues on March 25.

The right-hander most recently appeared for the Rangers on Sunday at San Francisco, throwing 2.0 scoreless innings with one hit batter (24 pitches/12 strikes). In 6 career MLB appearances (all relief) with Milwaukee (2023), Minnesota (2024), and Texas (2025), the Hortonville, Wis. native is 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA (8 ER/14.0 IP), 6 walks, 12 strikeouts, and a 1.36 WHIP.
Robert, 30, has posted no record, 2 saves, and a 1.54 ERA (2 ER/11.2 IP) in 10 relief appearances for Triple-A Round Rock this season, his 6th professional campaign (all with Texas). He made his Major League debut with Texas last season, going 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (2 ER/5.2 IP) in 4 relief appearances across two stints with Texas in 2024 (7/8-20, 9/27-end of season). The Hoover, Ala. native was originally selected by the Rangers in the 21st round of the 2017 MLB Draft from Auburn University.
Pennington, 27, was acquired today by Baltimore via waiver claim. The southpaw was designated for assignment by Texas on Wednesday.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
