Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Friday’s series opener against Seattle at Globe Life Field:
- Right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi activated from 15-day Injured List.
- Outfielder Wyatt Langford placed on 10-day Injured List (left oblique strain), retroactive to June 25.
- Infielder/outfielder Michael Helman (#24) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
- Right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Eovaldi, 35, missed the club’s last 24 games after being placed on the 15-day Injured List on June 1 (retroactive to May 29), with the Rangers going 13-11 in his absence. His last outing came on May 27 vs. Toronto at Globe Life Field, a start in which he departed after 2.0 shutout innings. The right-hander was not sent on an injury rehab assignment, instead building up his workload in bullpens and live batting practice sessions. He last faced live hitters on Saturday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, throwing 3.0 simulated innings. Eovaldi is Texas’ scheduled starting pitcher tonight vs. Seattle.
In 12 starts for Texas this season, Eovaldi is 4-3 with a 1.56 ERA (12 ER/69.1 IP), 73 strikeouts, 10 walks, a 0.81 WHIP, and a .185 opponent batting average (46-249). He was named Rangers Player of the Month for May after posting a 0.68 ERA (2 ER/26.2 IP) across 5 starts last month and has limited opponents to one-or-fewer runs in 7 straight outings since April 25, the longest such streak in Washington/Texas franchise history (beg. 1961). On the year, Eovaldi ranks among MLB pitchers (min. 12 starts) in opponent OPS (1st, .504), WHIP (1st), baserunners-per-9.0 IP (1st, 7.79), ERA (2nd), strikeouts-per-walk ratio (2nd, 7.30), FIP (2nd, 2.25), and walks-per-9.0 IP (4th, 1.30). The 13-year veteran is 95-84 with a 3.96 ERA in 306 career MLB games/287 starts, including a 3.33 ERA in 66 starts with Texas since 2023.
Langford did not appear in 3 of the club’s last 6 games since last Friday, this after starting in 46 of 47 games for Texas from April 28-June 19. The 23-year-old outfielder has slashed .232/.308/.421/.729 (60-259) with a team-high 13 home runs in 67 games this year, also tallying 10 doubles, 31 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. In 2 Major League seasons with Texas (2024-25), the former 1st-round selection (2023, 4th overall) has batted .245 with 29 home runs and 105 RBI.
Helman, 29, is seeking his Rangers debut after he was acquired via waiver claim from Pittsburgh and optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on May 19. In 30 games with the Express, the utilityman has hit .246/.306/.451/.757 (30-122) with 5 home runs, 10 doubles, 21 RBI, 10 walks, 6 stolen bases, and 25 runs, making starts at centerfield (12), shortstop (12), second base (3), and designated hitter (3). Helman made his Major League debut on September 3, 2024 with Minnesota and went 3-for-10 (.300) in 9 games for the Twins last season, his lone MLB experience to date. The Lincoln, Neb. and Texas A&M product was traded from Minnesota to St. Louis on February 6 and acquired off waivers by Pittsburgh on May 14.
The 30-year-old Dunning has pitched twice in relief for Texas across two stints in 2025 (April 28-29, June 23-25), owning no record with one save while allowing 3 earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched (5.40 ERA). His last appearance came on Monday at Baltimore, covering the final 2.0 innings of a 6-0 loss to the Orioles. In 126 career MLB games/102 starts with Chicago-AL (2020) and Texas (2021-25), the right-hander is 28-32 with a 4.36 ERA.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
