RED SOX REINSTATE RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER WALKER BUEHLER FROM 15-DAY INJURED LIST

Club Options Right-Handed Pitcher Nick Burdi to Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Nick Burdi to Triple-A Worcester.

Buehler, 30, will start tonight’s game against the New York Mets. The right-hander has made six starts this season, going 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA (16 ER/33.2 IP) and 29 strikeouts. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round (No. 24 overall) of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, the Kentucky native has gone 51-23 with a 3.31 ERA (275 ER/747.1 IP) and 783 strikeouts in 137 career games (128 starts) with the Dodgers (2017-24) and Red Sox (2025).

Burdi, 32, has tossed 2.1 scoreless innings over a pair of relief appearances for Boston. The right-hander has also pitched in 13 games for Worcester, going 3-0 with 3 saves, a 0.54 ERA (1 ER/16.2 IP), 25 strikeouts, and a 0.84 WHIP. Selected by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Illinois native owns a 5.93 ERA (18 ER/27.1 IP) in 33 career Major League games with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2018-20), Chicago Cubs (2023), New York Yankees (2024), and Red Sox (2025).
