Club Recalls Right-Handed Pitcher Richard Fitts from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins on the 15-Day injured list (retroactive to June 21) with a right elbow strain. To fill his spot, Boston recalled right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts from Triple-A Worcester.

Dobbins, 25, has pitched in 12 games (10 starts) for Boston this season, his Major League debut. The right-hander has gone 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA (27 ER/59.1 IP), most recently throwing 4.0 innings on Friday against the San Francisco Giants. Selected by the Red Sox in the eighth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has also recorded a 6.39 ERA (9 ER/12.2 IP) in three games (one start) for Worcester.

Fitts, 25, owns a 4.71 ERA (11 ER/21.0 IP) in five starts for Boston this season. The right-hander has also recorded a 5.25 ERA (7 ER/12.0 IP) in three starts for Worcester. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Alabama native owns a 3.24 ERA (15 ER/41.2 IP) with 24 strikeouts in nine career Major League games, all starts for the Red Sox (2024-25).
