Red Sox Announce Roster Moves

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • Reinstated left-handed pitcher Chris Murphy from the 60-Day Injured List.
  • Placed right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero on the 15-Day Injured List with a right elbow strain.
  • Transferred right-handed pitcher Justin Slaten to the 60-Day Injured List.

Murphy, 27, began the season on 60-Day Injured List due to recovery from left UCL surgery. The left-hander pitched 14.2 innings and struck out 17 batters over 11 rehab outings (three starts), with Triple-A Worcester (six games), Double-A Portland (three games, one start), and High-A Greenville (two starts). Selected by the Red Sox in the 6th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the California native made 20 appearances for Boston in 2023, his Major League debut, posting a 4.91 ERA (26 ER/47.2 IP) with 49 strikeouts.

Guerrero, 24, pitched last night against the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing two runs in one third of an inning. The right-hander has pitched in 13 games for Boston this season, posting a 4.15 ERA (8 ER/17.1 IP). He has also made 15 appearances for Triple-A Worcester, recording a 4.43 ERA (10 ER/20.1 IP). Selected by the Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Dominican Republic native owns a 2.63 ERA (8 ER/27.1 IP) over 22 career Major League outings, all with the Red Sox (2024-25).

Slaten, 27, was placed on the 15-Day Injured List on June 1 (retro to May 29) with right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander owns a 3.47 ERA (9 ER/23.1 IP) with 16 strikeouts, a 0.90 WHIP, and a .171 opponent AVG over 24 outings this season. Originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the third round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has posted a 3.09 ERA (27 ER/78.2 IP) with 74 strikeouts and a 0.98 WHIP in 68 career games, all with the Red Sox (2024-25).
