BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the active roster, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Josh Winckowski to Worcester following last night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
Guerrero, 24, has pitched in eight games for Worcester this season, recording a 5.23 ERA (6 ER/10.1 IP) with one save. Selected by the Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the right-hander made his MLB debut in 2024, allowing one run (zero earned runs) in 10.0 innings across nine appearances for Boston.
Winckowski, 26, threw 3.0 innings in last night’s game against Seattle. The right-hander has pitched in six games for the Red Sox this season, posting a 3.86 ERA (5 ER/11.2 IP). He has also made two appearances for Triple-A Worcester, striking out nine batters over 6.0 innings while allowing four runs (three earned). Originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Ohio native has posted a 4.20 ERA (113 ER/242.1 IP) with 195 strikeouts in 121 career games (21 starts) for the Red Sox (2022-25).
