Rangers Select Contract of RHP Dane Dunning, Option RHP Caleb Boushley to Triple-A Round Rock

Dunning will be available for Monday night’s series opener in Baltimore

Baltimore, Md. — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves prior to Monday’s series opener in Baltimore:

  • RHP Dane Dunning (#33) contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock.
  • RHP Caleb Boushley optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Dunning, 30, will be in his second stint with the Rangers this season. He was on the roster on April 28-29 before being designated for assignment on April 30 and assigned outright to Round Rock on May 3. His lone outing with the Rangers this season came on April 29 vs. Athletics (SV, 3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R-ER, 2 BB, 3 SO, 1 HR, 52 pitches/31 strikes). Dunning has spent the bulk of the season with the Express, going 2-1 with a 4.47 ERA (23 ER/46.1 IP) and 1.273 WHIP figure over 12 games/11 starts, posting 18 walks against 49 strikeouts. He took no decision in his last outing on Thursday at Oklahoma City (4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R-ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR, 66 pitches/39 strikes).

Dunning has 125 career MLB games/102 starts with Chicago-AL (2020) and Texas (2021-25), going 28-32 with one save and a 4.36 ERA (279 ER/575.2 IP).

Boushley (pronounced BAHZ-lee) has posted no record with a 5.04 ERA (17 ER/30.1 IP) over 15 relief appearances over two stints with the Rangers this season: April 8-27 and May 1-June 22. He pitched the final 4.0 innings of the Rangers’ 8-3 loss on Sunday at Pittsburgh, throwing 72 pitches. He also has a 1.69 ERA over 3 games/starts with the Express in 2025.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers are now at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
