Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Sunday’s series finale versus Chicago-AL at Globe Life Field.
- RHP Tyler Mahle placed on 15-day Injured List (right shoulder fatigue), retroactive to June 12.
- RHP Kumar Rocker (rhymes with ‘Lamar’) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
In 14 starts for the Rangers this year, the 30-year-old Mahle owns a 6-3 record with a 2.34 ERA (20 ER/77.0 IP), 56 strikeouts, and 27 walks, ranking 3rd in the A.L. with a 0.47 home runs-per-9.0 innings figure (4 HR/77.0 IP) and 8th in opponent OPS (.579). He last appeared Tuesday at Minnesota, logging 5.2 innings and earning the win in the club’s 16-4 victory over the Twins (10 H, 4 R-ER, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 HR, 91 pitches/60 strikes). A veteran of 9 Major League seasons, Mahle is 39-45 with a 4.11 ERA in 140 games/139 starts for Cincinnati (2017-22), Minnesota (2022-23), and Texas (2024-25).
Rocker, 25, has gone 1-4 with a 8.87 ERA (23 ER/23.1 IP), 21 strikeouts, and 7 walks in 6 starts for Texas this season. He made his first career Opening Day roster, making 5 starts for Texas from March 31-April 23 before being placed on the 15-day Injured List on April 24 with a right shoulder impingement. The right-hander was activated on June 4, making the start for Texas that night at Tampa Bay (L, 3.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R-ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) and was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock the following day. His most recent game action came in a start for the Express on Tuesday vs. El Paso (ND, 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R-ER, 0 BB, 4 SO, 70 pitches/44 strikes).
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Rocker has seen Major League action in each of the last two seasons after making his debut for Texas in September 2024, posting a career 1-6 record and 7.20 ERA (28 ER/35.0 IP) in 9 MLB starts. He earned his first MLB win on April 17 of this season vs. Los Angeles-AL, working 7.0 innings with 3 runs allowed in a 5-3 Rangers victory. The former 3rd overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft by Texas is in his third season with organization, compiling a 2-3 record and 2.50 ERA (21 ER/75.2 IP) in 19 minor league games/18 starts for Rangers affiliates since 2023.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
