Rangers Activate INF Jake Burger From 10-Day Injured List, Option OF Alejandro Osuna To Triple-A Round Rock

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Friday’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies at Globe Life Field:

  • Infielder Jake Burger activated from the 10-day Injured List.
  • Outfielder Alejandro Osuna optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Burger, 29, missed Texas’ last 20 games with a left quad strain sustained on July 11 at Houston. The right-handed-hitting infielder logged 5 games on injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Frisco (2 games) and Triple-A Round Rock (3 games) from August 2-7, going 8-for-21 (.381) with one home run, 4 doubles, 6 RBI, and 4 runs. In a start at first base with Round Rock at Albuquerque yesterday, Burger went 4-for-6 with one home run, one double, 4 RBI, and 2 runs while playing 8.0 innings in the field.

In 75 games across 2 stints with Texas this year (Opening Day-May 1, May 12-present), Burger is batting .228/.259/.401/.659 (62-272) with 11 home runs, 14 doubles, 35 RBI, and 33 runs scored, leading the club with 67 starts at first base. 2025 marks the St. Louis, Mo. native’s first campaign with the Rangers after being acquired from Miami in a trade on December 11, 2024. Burger carries a .247 batting average with 83 home runs, 220 RBI, and a .766 OPS in 419 career MLB games over 5 seasons with Chicago-AL (2021-23), Miami (2023-24), and Texas (2025).

The 22-year-old Osuna went 1-for-9 with one walk in 5 games/3 starts during his most recent stint with the Rangers from August 2-6. He made his Major League debut with Texas earlier this season on May 25 at Chicago-AL and has batted .158 (12-76) with one home run, one double, 5 RBI, and 13 walks in 34 games over a pair of stretches in the Majors (May 25-July 20, August 2-6). The left-handed-hitting outfielder sports a .273 average and .772 OPS in 49 minor league games between Frisco (37 games) and Round Rock (12 games) this year.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Tyler Mahle, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
