Shortstop Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been named the National League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet, and outfielder Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees has been named the American League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.
Betts won his sixth career honor and third as a member of the Dodgers, after previously winning on August 28, 2023 and August 29, 2022. He also won three times with the Boston Red Sox (June 21, 2015, May 14, 2017 & July 3, 2017) becoming the 15th player since 1973 with at least three awards in each league. Judge earned his 14th career award and second of the season after winning on March 31st. It is the third recognition for New York this year, with Judge joining Cody Bellinger, who won on September 2nd. Judge’s 14 career awards are tied for fourth-most all-time with Albert Pujols and Hall of Famer Frank Thomas. Judge and Thomas are tied for second all-time in the AL, behind only Manny Ramirez, who earned 16 career awards all in the AL, with Ramirez tied with Miguel Cabrera for the most career awards regardless of league.

- The 32-year-old hit .462 (12-for-26) with two homers, 10 RBI, three doubles, three walks, seven runs scored, an .808 slugging percentage and a .517 on-base percentage across six games.
- The Nashville, Tennessee native ranked second in the Majors in RBI, slugging, OPS (1.325) and hits; ranked third in batting average; tied for third in runs scored; ranked fourth in on-base percentage; and tied for fourth in total bases (21).
- The three-time World Series Champion racked up four hits and tallied five RBI in the Dodgers’ series finale against Colorado on Wednesday, hammering a grand slam in the eighth inning to cap off his big day at the plate. It marked his eighth career game with at least four hits and at least five RBI, which are the most in the Majors since his debut in 2014. His eight such games are tied with Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio and Al Simmons for third-most all-time, trailing Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig (10 G) and Charlie Gehringer (9 G).
- The eight-time All-Star recorded multiple RBI in five consecutive games from September 6th-10th, marking the longest streak of his career and longest by a Dodger since Matt Kemp also did so in five straight games from September 28-October 3, 2010. Betts is the second player with multiple RBI in five consecutive games this season, joining Minnesota’s Byron Buxton (August 27th-September 1st).
- The Dodgers’ 2025 nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award has reached base safely in each of his last 19 games since August 24th, slashing .382/.447/.671/1.118 during the stretch. Betts’ streak is tied with his teammate Shohei Ohtani for the second-longest active streak across the Majors, trailing only Toronto’s Bo Bichette, who has reached in 20 consecutive games.
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees (@thejudge44)
- The 33-year-old hit .450 (9-for-20) with five homers, five RBI, four walks, nine runs scored, a 1.200 slugging percentage and a .560 on-base percentage across six games against fellow American League Postseason contenders.
- The Linden, California native led the Majors in home runs, on-base percentage, slugging, OPS (1.760), total bases (24) and runs scored; and ranked fourth in batting average.
- The seven-time All-Star launched a home run in the first inning on Friday night at Boston, marking the 362nd home run of his career to pass Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio for sole possession of fourth place on the Yankees’ all-time list. Judge now trails Hall of Famers Babe Ruth (659 HR), Mickey Mantle (536) and Lou Gehrig (493) for the most in franchise history. The homer marked his 19th of the season in the first inning, which are the most in the opening frame of a single season in Major League history, surpassing the previous mark of 18 set by Alex Rodriguez with the Texas Rangers in 2001 and matched by Judge in 2024.
- The 2022 and 2024 AL MVP tied DiMaggio with pair of home runs on Thursday against Detroit, marking his 45th career multi-homer game, which are third-most in Yankees’ history, trailing Ruth (68) and Mantle (46). His 45 career multi-homer games are the most by any Major League player since his debut in 2017, followed by San Diego’s Manny Machado (37 G).
- The 2023 Roberto Clemente Award winner tallied two hits on Sunday at Fenway Park, marking his Major League-leading 90th game this season in which he has reached base safely at least twice, doing so in each of his last four games to close the week. He launched his 48th homer of the year on Sunday, and is just two longballs shy of reaching the 50-homer mark for the fourth time in his career. Judge is seeking to join Ruth, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa as the only players with four seasons of 50+ home runs, with no player ever doing it five times in their career.

ELECTRIC PLAY OF THE WEEK PRESENTED BY CHEVROLET
Game-Ending, Run-Saving Diving Play by Brayan Rocchio of the Cleveland Guardians
September 14th at Progressive Field – Watch It Here
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Brayan Rocchio earned his first career Play of the Week Award, marking the Guardians’ fifth honor since the inception of the award in 2019 and their first since winning three times in 2022. Other Cleveland players to win include Oscar Mercado on September 9, 2019; Steven Kwan on June 21, 2022 and August 29, 2022; and Andrés Giménez on July 25, 2022. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the tying run at third base for the White Sox, C.J. Kayfus grounded a ball back up the middle that would have trickled into the outfield and knotted the score at 3-3 if not for Rocchio’s acrobatic dive and quick throw to first for the final out of the game. Additional Play of the Week candidates included Fernando Tatis Jr.’s home run robbery; Jackson Chourio’s long run and diving catch in the alley; Michael Helman’s home run robbery; Andy Pages’ outfield assist to force extra innings; Ramón Laureano’s incredible home run robbery; Matt Chapman’s run-saving, diving play and hard throw to first; Carlos Correa’s smooth backhanded stop and throw to first; and Bryce Teodosio’s diving catch.
