The Cleveland Guardians announced today the acquisition of RHP Matt Festa from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations. He has been assigned to AAA Columbus. He is not currently a member of the club’s 40-man roster.
Festa, 32, has appeared in 108 Major League games across a five-year Major League career with Seattle, Texas and the New York Mets. He was re-signed by Texas in February after spending the 2024-25 off-season with the Chicago Cubs upon splitting 2024 with the Mets and Rangers. The Staten Island, NY native has tossed 14.2 scoreless innings to date in 9 relief outings at AAA Round Rock to start the 2025 campaign.
Additionally, RHP Slade Cecconi (left oblique strain) will begin a rehab assignment in AAA Columbus tonight (he is starting).
