Major League Baseball set to host free MLB Umpire Camp in Salt Lake City

Final Umpire Camp of 2025 To Be Held at The Ballpark at America First Square

August 19th, 2025

Major League Baseball will host its final free Umpire Camp of 2025 at The Ballpark at America First Square, the home of the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees, on Saturday, August 23rd. The one-day camp is free to attend and open to anyone interested in pursuing a career as a professional umpire, improving their current umpiring skills, or learning more about the umpiring profession.

Participants will work with MLB’s Umpiring Department Staff – which consists of former MLB Umpires and current MLB Supervisors – to strengthen the skills necessary to umpire at all levels. At the conclusion of the one-day camp, select individuals may be invited to attend the MLB Umpire Prospect Development Camp at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. This all-expenses-paid, four-week course convenes in January and provides invitees with an opportunity to compete for a position as an umpire in professional baseball.

Following successful MLB Umpire Camps held on April 26th in Scottsdale, May 17th in Dallas, June 28th in Hartford, and July 20th in Milwaukee, Salt Lake City concludes the 20th year of free Umpire Camps offered by Major League Baseball. Those aspiring to pursue a career in professional umpiring or looking to refine their amateur officiating skills are encouraged to visit MLBUC.com to learn more about the umpire development process. Walk-ups will be welcome at the August 23rd camp in Salt Lake City, Utah.

MLB Umpire Camps began in 2006 at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton, California. Current Major League Umpires Adam Beck, Nestor Ceja, Ramon De Jesus, Malachi Moore, Edwin Moscoso, and Carlos Torres all attended MLB Umpire Camps prior to reaching the Major Leagues. In addition to producing numerous Major League Umpires, these free one-day Umpire Camps held across the country now serve as the primary gateway into professional baseball.
