Brewers Acquire Outfielder Brandon Lockridge

Send Left-Handed Pitcher Nestor Cortes and Infielder Jorge Quintana to San Diego

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired outfielder Brandon Lockridge from the San Diego Padres in exchange for left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes, infielder Jorge Quintana and cash. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Lockridge, 28, has split the 2025 season between San Diego and Triple-A El Paso, appearing in 47 games for the Padres. In 21 games at El Paso, Lockridge batted .291/.408/.468 with 2 HR, 6 RBI and 7 SB.

Lockridge tied for third in all of Triple-A in stolen bases with 46 in 104 games in 2024 between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (72g) and El Paso (32g), batting .306/.410/.397 with 3 HR and 28 RBI. He was was acquired by San Diego from New York-AL in exchange for right-handed pitchers Enyel De Los Santos and Thomas Balboni on July 30, 2024 and made his Major League debut for the Padres on September 13, 2024.

Selected by New York-AL in the fifth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Troy University, Lockridge was named the best defensive outfielder in the Yankees system by Baseball America in 2023.

Cortes, 30, made 2 starts for the Brewers before being placed on the 15-day injured list on April 6 with a left elbow flexor strain, and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on April 21. He was acquired from New York-AL along with infielder Caleb Durbin and cash in exchange for right-handed pitcher Devin Williams on December 13.

Quintana, 18, signed with Milwaukee as a non-drafted free agent out of Venezuela on January 15, 2024. He appeared in 50 games for the Rookie ACL Brewers this season, batting .264 with 3 HR, 23 RBI and 19 SB.
