Minnesota Twins Named 2025 Most Innovative Teams Award Winner by Front Office Sports

Twins celebrated by Front Office Sports and Sports Innovation Lab for creating a legacy of innovation that stretches beyond the diamond

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins were honored today as a winner of the 2025 Front Office Sports Most Innovative Teams Award, powered by Sports Innovation Lab. The Twins organization was celebrated for pioneering ballpark technologies that turn every visit into a seamless experience, reimagining fan connections, delivering cutting-edge resources to its players, boldly delivering in the community and building partnerships with a purpose.

Along with the Twins, the other winners were Juventus Football Club of Italy’s Serie A, the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer league and the Los Angeles Clippers from the National Basketball Association.

Front Office Sports (FOS), the leading multiplatform media and news organization covering the intersection of sports, business and culture, recognized several industry-leading Twins endeavors, including in the areas of fan accessibility, athlete wellness and community engagement. Specifically, FOS spotlighted:

  • The Twins’ recent efforts to transform the fan experience through inclusive accessibility, streamlined security, and cutting-edge ticketing and concession systems. The Twins were noted for such Target Field investments as the world-class UnitedHealthcare Sensory Suite and ballpark-wide technology enhancements, including the 2023 videoboard and LED renovations, the in-progress upgrade to 5G via a state-of-the-art digital antenna system (DAS) in partnership with American Tower, and the successful Target Field rollouts of the Evolv Express® security solution and MLB Go-Ahead Entry. The club was also lauded for its decision to eliminate blackouts and deliver Twins baseball to fans everywhere via the implementation of the direct-to-consumer platform of Twins.TV presented by Progressive.
  • The Twins’ sweeping upgrades to organization-wide performance science programs to incorporate virtual reality, wearables, automated video and motion analysis, AI and machine learning, custom nutrition protocols, mental health emphasis and on-staff data science expertise.
  • The Twins’ comprehensive social impact initiatives, which led the club to be honored as a 2024 Project Play Champion by the Aspen Institute’s Sports & Society Program. The Twins were recognized as a model in professional sports for partnering with organizations such as Deaf Equity, Special Olympics and NubAbility to design and create adaptive clinics for youth that inclusively serve community needs; the club was also celebrated for the role of front office staff, instructors and major league players in bringing these clinics to life.

To honor the 2025 Most Innovative Teams Award winners, FOS and Sports Innovation Lab teamed up to identify those sports organizations transforming traditional dynamics into authentic relationships that celebrate the unique spirit of their communities, while empowering players to forge genuine connections with fans. Evaluation areas included transformative fan experiences, robust touchpoints and partnerships, forward-thinking athlete resources, innovative data and analytics use, and the proprietary Sports Innovation Lab Accelerated Fluid Fan Score.
