DODGERS ACTIVATE TANNER SCOTT
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott and optioned right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer.
Scott, 31, has been sidelined since July 22 with left elbow inflammation. He made one rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City, firing one inning with two strikeouts. He has pitched in 47 games this season, and he is 1-2 with a 4.14 ERA and 19 saves in 26 chances. He is in his ninth season in the Major Leagues with stops in Baltimore (2017-21), Miami (2022-24), San Diego (2024) and Los Angeles, going 32-26 with a 3.63 ERA in 430 games. He has 74 saves in his career with 536 strikeouts in 414.1innings. He was drafted by Baltimore in the sixth round (181st overall) in the 2014 MLB Draft out of Howard College (Tx.).
Sauer, 26, tossed two innings yesterday, allowing two runs on three hits. He is 2-1 with a 6.37 ERA in 10 games this year. Last season, he made his Major League debut as a member of the Kansas City Royals and went 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA in 14 games. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, he was 5-4 with a 4.86 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 76 innings. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the second round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of Ernest Righetti High School (Santa Maria, Calif.).
