ANGELS MAKE FOUR SELECTIONS ON FIRST DAY OF 2025 MLB FIRST-YEAR PLAYER DRAFT

ANAHEIM – The Angels made four selections today during the first day of the 2025 First-Year Player Draft. Today’s picks consisted of three college pitchers and one high school pitcher.

In the first round, the Angels selected RHP Tyler Bremner with the second overall selection. Bremner, 21, went 5-4 with a 3.49 ERA (77.1 IP – 30 ER) and 111 strikeouts across 14 starts in his junior season with UC Santa Barbara in 2025.

The Angels second round selection was RHP Chase Shores from Louisiana State University. Shores recorded the save in the deciding game of the College World Series for LSU with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. He held opponents scoreless in three of his four appearances in the College World Series, and in seven of his final nine outings on the season. Overall, he averaged 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings across 23 games (nine starts) in 2025.

In the third round, the Angels selected LHP Johnny Slawinski from Lyndon B. Johnson HS (Johnson City, TX). Slawinksi went 9-1 with a 0.37 ERA over 74.0 innings with 177 strikeouts to 14 walks. He also led all Texas high school hitters with 13 HR, batted .478 with a 1.054 OPS and was named the 2025 Prep Baseball Texas Player of the Year.

With their third round compensation pick, the Halos selected RHP Nate Snead out of the University of Tennessee. He went 14-4 with a 3.67 ERA (125.0 IP – 51 ER), 103 strikeouts and 11 saves across 52 games (two starts) in his two seasons with the Volunteers. He anchored the bullpen of Tennessee’s 2024 NCAA National Championship team, where he was teammates with Angels 2024 first round pick, Christian Moore.

The Angels will make 17 selections tomorrow in rounds 4-20 to conclude the Draft. The fourth round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. PT tomorrow morning.
