Son of Carlos Patiño Jimenez and Zulma Arzuza Rada, both college professors across Colombia over the last 25 years...Their jobs often took them hundreds of miles away from Patiño and his older sister, Silvia, for weeks and sometimes months at a time. In their parents’ absence, the children were raised by their grandparents and two live-in nannies...Credits his velocity to focusing on developing his lower half long before turning pro, including running for 45 minutes every day at local soccer fields with his father in Colombia...Rose through the Padres system with former prospect and current Washington Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore at almost every stop in their careers from rookie ball through Double-A...Gore helped Patiño learn English and Patiño helped Gore with Spanish.

Claimed off waivers by SD from CWS on Dec. 22, 2023...Was a late arrival to camp in Peoria, Ariz., because of a visa issue...made two Spring Training appearances before landing on the 15-day Injured List with right elbow inflammation on March 19...Underwent Tommy John surgery on April 30...transferred to the 60-day IL on May 22.
