2024

In his fifth Major League season, Weems pitched in 41 games for Washington and posted a 6.70 ERA (31 ER/41.2 IP)…Twice pitched against the Braves, completing one total inning and allowing three earned runs (27.00 ERA)…Weems' pitch mix included a four-seam fastball (61.5%), slider (34.9%), split-finger fastball (2.7%) and a curveball (0.8%)…His fastball averaged 96.0 mph...Played on 15-day injured list on July 25, 2024 with a right knee stress reaction...Reinstated on Aug. 10.

2020

The former catcher made his Major League debut with Oakland in 2020 in his 10th professional season…compiled a 3.21 ERA and .200 opponents batting average in nine relief appearances over two stints with the A’s…struck out 18 batters in 14.0 innings (11.57 per nine innings) but issued seven walks (4.50 per nine innings)…his opponents batting average broke down to .143 (4-for-28) with his lone home run against right-handed hitters compared to .273 (6-for-22) against lefthanders…yielded a .133 average with two outs and opponents were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and two outs…first batters faced were 3-for-8 (.375) with a walk and a home run…did not inherit any runners…allowed a .077 batting average with two strikes…had a .360 opponents average over his first 15 pitches in a game, .040 after that…did not allow a run in four games on the road (7.0 ip) and opponents were 2-for-22 (.091)…had a 6.43 ERA and .286 opponents average in five games in Oakland…issued six of his seven walks at home…had a 1.50 ERA in seven night games, a 13.50 ERA in two day games…tossed at least one inning in each of his nine appearances.

OAKLAND: The non-roster invitee made the A’s Opening Day roster and made his ML debut July 28 against Colorado when he allowed two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings, all career highs (0 bb, 3 so)…struck out the first batter he faced (Story) but then allowed four straight hits (two runs) before retiring each of the final eight batters he faced…tossed 2.0 scoreless innings July 31 at Seattle and had a 3.60 ERA in two games when he placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 4 retroactive to Aug. 1 with a strained right latissimus dorsi…was reinstated from the IL and optioned to the alternate site Aug. 14…was recalled Aug. 24 and spent the remainder of the season with the A’s…logged a 3.00 ERA in seven appearances following his return…tossed 3.0 perfect innings of relief and struck out a career-high five on a career-high 38 pitches in the first game of the Sept. 12 doubleheader at Texas…walked a career-high three batters and allowed one run in 1.0 innings on Sept. 20 against San Francisco…it was his first run since his first inning in the majors on July 28 against Colorado and it snapped a 10.0-inning scoreless streak…that began a season-ending stretch where he walked five and yielded three runs in 3.0 innings over his final three games… was on the Taxi Squad for the ALWCS against Chicago but was added to the A’s roster for the ALDS against Houston…made one appearance in Game 1 and did not retire any of the three batters he faced to start the ninth inning…issued a walk and allowed two singles and was charged with two runs in the A’s 10-5 loss at Dodger Stadium.

Spent most of the season at Double-A Portland where he was 0-2 with eight saves and a 3.89 ERA in 33 relief appearances…also posted a 6.17 ERA in eight games during a one-month stint with Triple-A Pawtucket and combined to go 0-3 with eight saves and a 4.37 ERA in 41 games, including one start, overall…surrendered just two home runs in 55.2 innings, an average of 0.32 per nine innings…struck out a career-high 69 (11.16 per nine innings) but walked 33 (5.34 per nine innings)…also had career highs in hits (54) and runs (32) and matched his high in losses…tied for sixth in the Red Sox farm system in saves and ranked ninth in games pitched…posted a 5.29 ERA in 26 games before the All-Star Break, a 2.91 ERA in 15 games after the break…allowed a .261 opponents batting average, including .247 (23-for-93) against left-handed hitters compared to .272 (31-for-114) against right-handers…surrendered both of his home runs to righties but issued 23 of his 33 walks to lefties…yielded a .195 average to batters leading off an inning but walked 10 for a .353 on-base percentage…opponents hit .314 with runners in scoring position…tossed at least one inning in 36 of his 41 appearances, including two or more 13 times.

MINORS: Began the season at Portland and allowed at least one run in four of his five outings in April (4.82 ERA)…walked a season-high three batters April 15 at Reading (also June 12 at Altoona)… struck out a career-high seven batters in a season-high 3.2 innings April 18 against Trenton…did not allow a run in seven of his first eight games in May, but the exception was May 11 at Trenton when he yielded five runs on four hits and a walk in 0.2 innings…had four of his eight saves over that stretch…did not surrender a run over his final five games with Portland and had a 4.50 ERA in 21 games overall when he was moved up to Pawtucket to June 20…started the Triple-A portion of his campaign with two scoreless outings and had an 8.2-inning scoreless streak from June 8-24…combined with both clubs for a 2.13 ERA in 10 appearances in June…fanned 17 in 12.2 innings…started the bottom of the ninth inning on July 4 at Lehigh Valley with a 10-6 lead and allowed a season-high six runs on a season-high five hits without retiring a batter for the loss… made the second start of his professional career July 12 in the second game of a doubleheader against Buffalo (2.0 ip, 3 h, 1 r, 1 er, 2 bb, 3 so)…had a 6.17 ERA in eight games with Pawtucket when he was sent back to Portland July 22…logged a 2.81 ERA over his final 12 appearances with the Sea Dogs…allowed five runs over his first five games but did not allow an earned run over his final seven contests (9.0 ip) …posted a 1.50 ERA and .190 opponents batting average in nine games in August…struck out 17 in 12.0 innings.

Began the season with Single-A Salem before advancing to Double-A Portland and making two appearances with Triple-A Pawtucket…posted a career-low 3.36 ERA in a career-high 43 relief appearances…named Red Sox Minor League Relief Pitcher of the Month for April…allowed just one earned run on three hits in 13.1 innings with Salem (0.68 ERA)…was promoted to Portland on May 4…earned a win on July 4 at Hartford and saves in each of his next three appearances from July 6-14…made single appearances for the PawSox on July 29 vs. Charlotte and Sept. 3 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
