Jacob Isaiah Lopez was originally signed by Giants scout Charles Fick...Attended College of the Canyons (Calif.) from 2017-18 and earned Western State Conference East Division Pitcher of the Year in 2018...Committed to Texas Tech before he was selected by San Francisco in the 2018 draft.

2024

Spent most of the season at Triple-A Durham, where he was 4-7 with a 4.26 ERA and .671 opponents OPS in 21 games, including 19 starts...Also had three stints with Tampa Bay and compiled a 5.23 ERA and .629 OPS in four games, including one start...Held the opposition to a .135 batting average with the Rays but walked seven and hit two batters in 10.1 innings for a .304 on-base percentage...Right-handed hitters were 2-for-24 (.083) against him and left-handers were 3-for-13 (.231)...Both of the hits by righties were home runs...Opponents were 2-for-12 (.167) with runners in scoring position...Allowed a .218 opponents batting average with Durham but walked 45 batters in 88.2 innings for a .320 on-base percentage...His four wins matched his most as a Minor Leaguer, but his ERA, losses, runs (47) and home runs (12) were career highs...Ranked 10th in the Rays farm system in strikeouts (106) but tied for third in most walks...His opponents batting average broke down to .194 (24-for-124) with a .580 OPS against lefthanded hitters compared to .234 (47-for-201) with a .727 OPS against right-handers...Yielded nine of his 12 home runs to righties...Opponents hit .275 with runners in scoring position...Was 3-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 12 starts on four or five days of rest, 1-4 with a 5.88 ERA in his other nine appearances...Held the four, five and six hitters in the batting order to a .110 batting average, but the seven and eight hitters combined for a .359 average...Opponents hit .142 with two strikes...Logged five or more innings in just nine of his 19 starts and his season high was six innings three times.
