2023

Saw his first big league action in 2023, appearing in 21 games, including 18 starts, with the Tigers... Made his Major League debut on June 2 at Chicago (AL), giving up two runs on two hits with one walk and six strikeouts in 5.0 innings...carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning until allowing a single to Romy Gonzalez...according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he became the first Tigers pitcher to throw at least 5.0 no-hit innings in his debut since Bill Slayback pitched 7.0 hitless innings on June 26, 1972 vs. New York (AL)...became the second Major League pitcher to do so in 2023, joining Seattle’s Bryce Miller, who worked 5.1 no-hit innings on May 2 at Oakland... Picked up his first Major League win on June 24 vs. Minnesota, allowing a run on four hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings...became the 11th Tigers pitcher since 1901 to strike out nine-or-more batters in one of his first five Major League games (last, Tyler Alexander, July 27, 2019 at Seattle)... Struck out a career-best 10 batters in 4.1 innings on Aug. 28 vs. New York (AL)... Joined Tyler Alexander (10 strikeouts in 3.2 innings on Aug. 2, 2020 vs. Cincinnati) as the only Tigers pitchers to strike out 10 batters in 4.1 innings-or-less... Threw a career-high 7.0 shutout innings on Sept. 2 at Chicago (AL) with four hits allowed and one strikeout... Threw 5.0 no-hit innings in consecutive starts on Sept. 8 vs. Chicago (AL) and Sept. 14 vs. Cincinnati...according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he became the first Tigers pitcher to have a no-hitter through 5.0 innings in consecutive starts since Justin Verlander (May 7 and 13, 2011)... Had three straight starts with at least 6.0 innings pitched, two-or-fewer hits allowed and two-or-fewer runs allowed from Sept. 8-20, tying Michael Fulmer from 2016 for the longest such streak in franchise history... Allowed two runs-or-less in each of his final six starts of the season from Aug. 28-Sept. 26, posting a 1.51 ERA (35.2IP/6ER), a 0.87 WHIP, .151 opponents batting average and 35 strikeouts in that span.

Spent the entire 2022 season with Double A Erie, pitching in 26 games, including 25 starts...set an Erie single-season record with 168 strikeouts....Named a Rawlings MiLB Gold Glove Award winner....Ranked second in the Eastern League in strikeouts and opponent batting average (.237), while he was tied for second in wins (eight), third in ERA (4.14) and winning percentage (.571), fourth in WHIP (1.23), tied for fourth in games started and sixth in innings pitched (119.2)....Recorded double-digit strikeouts in consecutive starts, fanning 10 batters in the first game of the doubleheader on May 15 at Akron and 11 hitters on May 20 vs. New Hampshire....Voted Tigers Pitcher of the Month for May, compiling a 2-2 record with a 2.49 ERA (21.2IP/6ER) and 36 strikeouts in five appearances, including four starts....Threw 6.0 shutout innings with one hit allowed, one walk and 10 strikeouts on Aug. 12 at New Hampshire....Selected Eastern League Pitcher of the Month for September, starting three games and posting a 2-0 record with a 2.30 ERA (15.2IP/4ER) and 24 strikeouts....Sidelined from September 23-30 with a right forearm strain...Ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the Tigers organization by Baseball America following the season.
