Come cheer on the Phillies as they close out the homestand with a three-game series against the division rival Washington Nationals. Here’s a look at some of the fan highlights surrounding this weekend’s games:
- Lights Up // Friday Night at the Bank! Fans 21 and over will receive a Miller Lite Floppy Hat at the series opener on Friday, August 22, at 6:45 p.m. Plus, join the Phillies Wives to “Save a Pet at the Park” and help pets in need at the First Base Plaza. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 4:45 p.m.; all other gates 5:15 p.m.
- The Phillies Wives, along with the Pennsylvania SPCA, will be at the First Base Plaza with adoptable dogs, puppies and kittens on site. Click here to see images of some of the adoptable pets! Plus, fans can purchase signed mystery baseballs to support the cause ($60 for current player autographed balls; $20 for former players).
- Fans are also encouraged to donate needed pet supplies, with wish list items including blankets, bath towels, canned dog, cat and kitten food (no dry food, please), and treats and toys for dogs and cats. Donation boxes will be located at the First Base, Third Base and Left Field Gates, as well as the Home Plate Suite & Club Entrance.
- In addition, that night’s Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 Drawing will benefit the Pennsylvania SPCA, as well as the Phillies Charities Online Auction, which is live now at phillies.com/auctions.
- From 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels will be guest bartending at Miller Lite Liberty Landing in Left Field.
- Before the game, the Phillies will host an on-field Salute to Champions, recognizing local youth baseball teams that reached their state championships and above, including Upper Dublin High School baseball, Robbinsville Little League 10U, East Side Little League 10U and 14U, and Marlton Chiefs 11U.
- Plus, Richman’s Ice Cream and Nike will help recognize the Phillies RBI Coach of the Year, while Citizens will help recognize the Phillies Jr. RBI Coach of the Year.
- Emma Reed, 13, from Feasterville, Pa., will be honored on-field as Phillies Ballgirls Ball Kid of the Month. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is given each month to a child battling a disease.
- The series continues Saturday, August 23, with the 6:05 p.m. game. Gate openings: 3B/LF – 3:35 p.m.; all other gates 4:35 p.m.
- Fans can enjoy the pregame Budweiser Block Party with DJ HBK at the Budweiser Batter’s Eye Bar behind Section 148.
- Before the game, Samdai Strickland, a teacher at Waldron Mercy Academy in Merion, Pa., will be honored on-field as part of the Independence Blue Cross Honor Roll program. The program recognizes teachers who are hitting it out of the park with their achievements both in and out of the classroom.
- At the end of the 3rd inning, CS1 Abby Swisher, who is the Leading Culinary Specialist of the Food Service Division at the Presidential retreat Camp David, will be honored as the night’s Hometown Hero presented by Toyota.
- The series concludes on Sunday, August 24, with the 1:35 p.m. game. Children 14 and under will receive BradyPLUS Trea Turner Performance Sunglasses, and are invited on-field after the game for Nemours Children’s Health Kids Run the Bases! Gate openings: 3B/LF – 11:05 a.m.; all other gates 12:05 p.m.
- Before the game, Abbott Elementary star Lisa Ann Walter will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
- Fans can enjoy complimentary face painting at The Yard before and during the game.
- SportsRadio 94WIP Morning Show host Joe DeCamara will be signing copies of his book The Best of Philly Sports: Amazing Moments and Stories in Philadelphia Sports History at the Phillies Authentics Shop from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
- At the end of the 3rd inning, 99-year-old WWII veteran Michael Grieco, Sr., will be honored as the day’s Hometown Hero presented by Toyota.
- Fans are invited to bid on team-issued and game-used autographed memorabilia items as part of the Phillies Charities Online Auction to benefit the Pennsylvania SPCA until 6:00 p.m. on August 31, at phillies.com/auctions.
- Features signed memorabilia from Phillies players including Alec Bohm, Nick Castellanos, Bryce Harper, Brandon Marsh, J.T. Realmuto, Cristopher Sánchez, Kyle Schwarber, Edmundo Sosa, Bryson Stott, Ranger Suárez, Trea Turner and Zack Wheeler.
